Roberto Duran vs Manny Pacquiao (Hypothetical)

Roberto Durán Samaniego (born June 16, 1951) is a Panamanian former professional boxer who competed from 1968 to 2001. He held world championships in four weight classes: lightweight, welterweight, light middleweight and middleweight, as well as reigns as the undisputed and lineal lightweight champion, and the lineal welterweight champion. He is also the second boxer to have competed over a span of five decades, the first being Jack Johnson. Durán was known as a versatile, technical brawler and pressure fighter, which earned him the nickname of "Manos de Piedra" ("Hands of Stone") for his formidable punching power and excellent defense. In 2002, Durán was voted by The Ring magazine as the fifth greatest fighter of the last 80 years, while boxing historian Bert Sugar rated him as the eighth greatest fighter of all time. The Associated Press voted him as the best lightweight of the 20th century, with many considering him the greatest lightweight of all time. Durán retired for good in January 2002 at age 50, following a car crash in Argentina in October 2001, after which he had required life saving surgery. He had previously retired in November 1980, June 1984 and August 1998, only to change his mind. Durán ended his career with a professional record of 119 fights, 103 wins, and 70 knockouts. From May 1971 up until his second fight against Sugar Ray Leonard in November 1980, as well as in his fight against Wilfred Benítez in January 1982, Durán was trained by legendary boxing trainer Ray Arcel. Roberto Durán was born on June 16, 1951, in Guararé, Panama. His mother, Clara Samaniego, was a native of Guararé, and his father, Margarito Durán Sánchez, was from Arizona, United States, and of Mexican descent. He was raised in the slums of El Chorrillo in the district "La Casa de Piedra" (The House of Stone), in Panama City. He began sparring with experienced boxers at the Neco de La Guardia gymnasium when he was only eight years old.

He had defeated the likes of Jorge Castro, Ernesto Marcel, Ken Buchanan, Esteban de Jesus X2, Vilomar Fernandez, Guts Ishimatsu, Edwin Viruet X2, Carlos Palomino, Sugar Ray Leonard, Pipino Cuevas, Davey Moore and Iran Barkley.

He had plenty of losses but the most recognizable names would be Esteban de Jesus, Wilfred Benitez, Sugar Ray Leonard X2, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, Vinny Pazienza X2, and Hector Camacho X2.

Manny Pacquiao is a Filipino former professional boxer who competed from 1995 to 2021. Regarded by boxing historians as one of the greatest professional boxers of all time, Pacquiao is the only boxer in history to win twelve major world titles in eight different weight divisions. He is also the first boxer in history to win the lineal championship in five different weight divisions, as well as being the first boxer in history to win major world titles in four of the original eight weight divisions of boxing, also known as the "glamour divisions": flyweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight. In July 2019, Pacquiao became the oldest welterweight world champion in history at the age of 40, and the first boxer to become a recognized four-time welterweight champion after defeating Keith Thurman to win the WBA (Super) welterweight title. Pacquiao also holds the record of being the only boxer to hold world titles in four different decades, in the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s. Pacquiao was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon, and raised in General Santos, Philippines. He is the son of Rosalio Pacquiao and actress Dionisia Dapidran. His parents separated when he was in sixth grade, after his father had an affair. He is the fourth of six siblings, one of whom, Alberto "Bobby" Pacquiao, is also a politician and former professional boxer.

He has wins over Marco Antonio Barrera X3, Erik Morales X2, Oscar Larios, Juan Manuel Marquez X2, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley, Timothy Bradley X2, Lucas Matthysse and Keith Thurman.

He had plenty of losses but the most recognizable were to Erik Morales, Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Jeff Horn, and Yordenis Ugas.

Duran is the goat. Beating a prime undefeated Ray and s the best win in the history of the sport. He bodies Pac and Floyd easily.

Not only that but he managed to pull it off by moving up two weight classes above. What played a role in the first rematch as well is the fact that Roberto ballooned up to 180-190s pounds due to partying in Panama after the bout.

Thus, the bad a weight cut in a 1-month notice and said the infamous "No Mas" after he was overwhelmed by Leonard's movement.

As for the fight against Manny Pacquiao:

I have to rewatch both boxer's fights, primarily Pacquiao's fight against Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez to make a proper assessment, pretty sure Duran outperformed the trio in terms of physical prowess, defensive skills and was versatile enough to replicate their gameplan.

But perhaps I am just making rash assumptions here.
