juan manuel marquez - what next?

although jmm was given a royal beat down it wouldn't surprise me if alot of people still have him top 5 p4p. i think that speaks volumes for the guy, like most people i thought that jmm was never going to be able to trouble pbf. although he has the perfect style the weight difference was too much.

the point of this thread is where do you think jmm should go next what weight class? what opponent?

imo looking at jmm i still think he could make 135 if he wanted, he hasn't put on a whole lot of mass and what he has put on hasn't stayed there for a long time anyway. but mentally i wonder if jmm can get himself up for the LW division, he has already beat the best at 135 and may see it as a backward step. imo two names worth mentioning are guzman and valero but they may be seen as high risk and low reward.

at 140 the options are more favourable, hatton still commands a loyal following, judah and malignaggi would make for worthwhile bouts, bradley would also be interested and campbell himself will be looking for a dance partner soon. but truthfully i think 140 might even be too much for jmm.

imo he should drop to LW and look to take on valero, if that doesn't work out then try and take on a small LWW like campbell or malignaggi.

    your thoughts?

Go to JWW. He gotta lose muscle to move back down, so I'd rather him get to 140 than 135. Nothin left at LW anyway. He can still get a belt or 2 at JWW.

140 is definitely too much. The highest he should go is lightweight.

actually mangler i dont think jmm would find it impossible to make 135 again, yes he has put on some muscle mass but not alot. i mean he weighed in at 142 and even then he looked pretty flabby compared to how he normally shows up. besides its not as though the muscle he has put on has stayed there for a long time and his body has become accustomed to it.

i think being the first man to beat valero would be a fine feather in his cap.

Wait for November 14th. If Pac loses, a trilogy is not out of the question.

Assumin he could get back to LW and do it comfortably, I'd rather he do that. I just ain't sure he can. He's already in his mid 30s. I'd hate too see him lose any more time off his career strugglin wit weight. Kat or Valero fights are good and winnable if he can get down there tho. But I'm pretty sure we just missed out on Pac-JMM 3 tho.

I think they are trying to push for a fight with Katsidis.
And I hear talk of Hatton, Although I don't really want to see that for some reason.

I think if he can make a Valero fight that'd be a great bounceback win. He probably deserves a tune-up before another tough encounter though.

Hatton is ideal but I don't know how realistic that is. Valero, Campbell, Katsidis and Khan should be taken into consideration IMO.

Obviously if Pacquiao is derailed by Cotto Marquez's chance at making a rubbermatch with him will be significantly increased.

Yea if he comes back and just fights a tuneup and if Pac loses I think that would be the obvious fight for both.
