Comments Thread For: Anthony Olascuaga Steps In To Face WBA/WBC Champ Kenshiro Teraji, Replaces 'Bomba' Gonzalez

Kenshiro Teraji remains on course to defend his junior flyweight championship. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Anthony Olascuaga has been tabbed to next challenge Teraji atop an April 8 ESPN+ show from Ariake Arena in Tokyo. Los Angeles' Olascuaga was among the leading candidates to land the short-notice assignment after WBO junior flyweight titlist Jonathan 'Bomba' Gonzalez was diagnosed with mycoplasma pneumonia which forced him out of the planned three-belt unification bout.

      We're getting a better fight.

Olascuaga will KO Kenshiro abd shake up the smaller weight divisions.

He'll unify against Bomba Gonzales next.
Then move up and take over the Flyweight division.

Princessa is a huge puncher for being a little guy.
He's also super confident , has good speed , reflexes and a experienced corner.

It was a unification so it had some significance. This can be a better matchup but Olascuaga is very inexperienced in the pros and Kenshiro has been 12 a couple of times. Pacing in a long fight is very significant and can mentally drain a fighter.

          You make good points.
It's Kenshiros Experience vs Princessa's explosiveness IMO.

Having some inside knowledge of the fight gives me confidence in picking Olascuaga by KO.
Teraji and Olascuaga are familiar with each other.
I doubted Kenshiro would take the fight.

Either way it should be good. There is no money in those weights and these guys have to fight each other as soon as they can. There is no marinating.
