If Ryder has earned the shot, Benavidez has earned it even more.

Now that he's beat Plant convincingly I agree Benavidez has earned a shot.
But before Plant...

Atleast Ryder had fought Jacobs , Parker and Callum Smith ( who I thought he beat ).
" The Gorilla's " a solid opponent for a homecoming fight IMO.

I want to see Canelo / Benavidez too.
But lets be real here.
Before Plant the only good guys David had beat were old Dirrel and little Lemieux.

Lol, I know you're joking, but here it goes anyway, Benavidez has been Cinnabon's WBC mandatory and the WBC interim champion for the last 2 fights before Ryder was even in position. The sanctioning bodies do as they are told when it comes to Canelo, they don't mandate the fight unless he chooses to face that opponent. Hell, Ryder wasn't even mandated, Ginger and Hearn CHOSE him.

If he had been an opponent for Benavidez then all of a sudden they would hype him up as if he was a top 3 super middleweight. Which he is. But since Canelo is fighting him they’re treating him like he’s some guy who just cracks the top 15.
