Why didn't Plant grab Canelo like he did David?

David is a different type of beast that's why. All that holding on David and not one time did he try and hold Canelo.

Canelo 5'7 ginger fake mexican beef is GETTING IT.

    David by KO.

there are certain fighters you can't grab. like GGG they know how to counter the clinch. Canelo knows how to counter grabbing like GGG. both of them don't get grabbed alot even when they are battering their opponents into the ground.

canelo is really small, its harder to grab and hold someone way smaller than you and when hes inside distance he can rip shots to the body before he does get held due to shorter arms. You also are acting like he didnt hold him at all, he certainly did, it was just less effective.

I would assume it's a combination of two things:

1.) For this fight, they drilled clinching to disrupt Benavidez's momentum. It was obvious from the opening bell that the game plan was clinched when close so they could be separated and give Plant space to work.

2.) David has longer arms than Canelo, so he's easier to clinch than Canelo, who has comparatively short arms.

Maybe because every time he got close or tried to get inside he ate a body shot or counter uppercut that eventually put him down.
Benevidez is a slower footed fighter and wants to come forward vs wait for the counter opportunities.
          Styles make fights.

Likely because Plant had the height and reach advantage. An inside fight would have given Canelo all the advantages. He tried to keep Canelo on the outside of his punches and use his range, distance and footwork to jab and pot shot his way to the end. He couldn't do that with Benavidez who is taller, rangier and I believe had a wider span.

Canelo is a tough inside player . Grab him and you will get an uppercut straight to your nose.
