Comments Thread For: Calvin Ford Doesn't Believe Gervonta Davis Is Anywhere Near His Peak

Having laced up his gloves on the professional level for over a decade now, Gervonta Davis has established himself as one of the bright stars in the sport of boxing. In addition to selling out arenas and forcing fans to plunk down their hard-earned cash to purchase his pay-per-views, Davis has entertained his supporters with violent knockouts. On April 22nd, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Davis will attempt to ruthlessly continue his trend against Ryan Garcia.

How does he keep finding the KO? Barrios, Romero, and Garcia, all were doing well, "UP UNTIL THE KNOCKOUT!"

He wasn't getting outboxed against Rolly. Rolly can't box. He can punch very hard though. Rolly punches hard enough to turn u into a vegetable. He has yellow bus strength because he's really living that 7:30 helmet life. U ever heard him speak? In boxing IQ, he's as dumb as a rhinoceros, and almost as strong as one. So with a guy like him, u have to be alert and see everything he throws first, play around, feint him, bait him in, make him reach, tap tap tap. Make him think u can't punch like that, make him confident so u can open him up. Hit him with single hard shots in the body, take some of the strength away, gas him a little bit, then time him rushing in. That's exactly what Tank did, it was perfect. U may think he was losing but he wasn't. He let the dumber guy get overconfident and extra sloppy then he lit him up. Tank is master boxer, not just a puncher. Ryan is going to sleep too, but in a different way than Rolly. Tank will be a lot more meaner and explosive for Ryan because he knows Ryan has speed.

No, Tank's best years at this point are probably behind him thanks to Floyd Mayweather having him sit on his hands for so many years while watching him do exhibitions to hog the spotlight and take away Tanks Shine.

Tank may not be washed up, but he will show himself to be just plain 'Gevontae Davis' in his next say...2 to 3 fights.

Observations from not a 'fight' but a 'boxing' fan.

This is not 'trolling', these are facts.

Because Barrios,Cruz and Garcia are sub elite level talents while Romero is straight garbage. All of them have been thoroughly outclassed before so it shouldn't come as a suprise a big puncher like Tank was able to land his money shot.

Ryan is a level above all those guys in terms of boxing IQ and ability who will not make it that easy for Tank. He cant just sit back, lose rounds in an attempt to wait on a "bail me out" counter like he did those guys,he does that and he loses by a landslide. Tank will have to get going a lot sooner than he's accustomed to.

Tanks ceiling becomes apparent April 22.

Who outclassed Hector Luis Garcia? We'll see on the 22nd! I don't consider KingRy "elite" either! Maybe had he fought Haney or Linares, I would feel different, but he didn't! The "elite" Lightweights meet May 20th on ESPN!

Outside of Tank,Garcia had yet to face anyone worth thier salt so....
Beating a shot Linares wouldve proved nothing. As far as Haney, true, but you don't put in a potential star fighter like Ryan that early in his career against a spoiler like Haney. Not to say he wouldnt have won but youd be doing a disservice to your budding fighter if you did, as ugly as Haney makes boxing matches. They will have their showdown at140 in the neat future, book it.

Davis ceiling is already reached, we’ve since saved by his power a few times now. He can be outboxed, I’ll say easily in fact by someone who has an engine and isn’t going to sit in the pocket. Davis has reach limitations and height limitations that present him with problems long term as he moves up. Dudes only get bigger from here on out. Floyd has exception dimensions with his reach which made his defense way easier to execute.

So exactly, no one had outboxed Hector Garcia b4 Tank! Linares would've been a perfect test for Ryan, back in 2021! Ryan only fought once that year, and that was in January! Tagoe and Fortuna were no better! The only reason he couldn't face Haney, is because they KNEW he would lose! Ryan and Devin are the same age, but Devin fought Linares and Jo Jo, while Ryan did nothing!
