  • What's up with the misconception that a boxer has to be a prancing dancer around the ring?

I find it hilarious how a lot of people think a top boxer has to be some prancing, tap tap moving hugger to be successful or considered "elite"

boxers like Benavidez, Chavez, Duran etc are boxer punchers but they don't need to prance around the ring like fairys they are true fighters not some manufacturered softies.

Imagine if all boxers fought with that prancing/hugging style boxing would 100% be a dead sport literally no one would give two ****s about it. It's the boxer/puncher style fighters who keep this sport alive that's a fact.

Ppl gotta stop being fooled by what a certain group wants you to believe.

Can you list some non-mexican descent fighters who do this well?

There is no formula to being an elite fighter. Some do it by mastering the basics (Bivol, Barrera), some do it with flash (Hamed, RJJ), some with overwhelming power (Julian Jackson, Inoue), some use pure reflexes (Whitaker, Floyd), some with a combination of all of it (Salvador Sanchez, Canelo).

I personally appreciate all the styles that an individual fighter can make work for himself.

I know this maybe new to some people on here but boxing is called BOXING for a REASON. Its not called brawling. If you think BOXERS are pooseys. Im sure you have a neighborhood boxing gym near you. Get in their with a TRUE BOXER and find out why their special.
I DONT like boxers like Lara, Rigondeaux or even sometimes Mayweather BUT I can appreciate them if they choose to KO or at least beat up an opponent using that style.
Benividas WILL get beat up one day by a TRUE BOXER. Remember I said it first.
Watch Mayweather vs Corrales. Corrales was just like Benividas. It was a damn good fight for a few rounds.

JCC and Duran both had quick feet. please don't compare them to Benavidez lmfao. when has Duran missed entire combos hitting air because he couldn't close the distance?

they don't have to dance but they have to be able to manage distance. David has 2 left feet. He was helplessly hitting air against Plant. Couldn't chase him down.

GGG is not a dancer but he had quick feet. He can chase down a kell brook if he tries to be cute.

Marius Breidis is not a dancer but look how he closed distance on Usyk.

          Maidana on Broner and Mayweather.

if you have plodding feet like Andy Ruiz, it doesn't matter if you got fast hands and a KO punch. You can be outboxed.

See that thinking is the problem since when have those guys I named been "brawlers" a brawler is a street thug you find in the street or bar.

Boxer/puncher is the style skills involved but it seems those that are not good at it want to discredit it.

Again prancing around the ring holding is also not boxing run, hit, hold that is not the sweet science. Standing in front of youre opponent and making him miss and countering is the sweet science.

And ppl wonder why the sport is where it's at. I'll repeat myself prancing, hugging, holding is not boxing that's some femal **** invented by guys who couldn't fight.

In a nutshell "watch this ima hit you literally run and or hold so you can't hit me back then rinse and repeat"

            all night. Lol

Why are you pretending like David didn't give plant a career altering beating lol what little world you live in?

Where was plants "fast feet" to save him from the brutal beating Benavidez gave him? Go ahead I'll wait.

So unless a fighter ignorantly stand in front of his opponent, it’s not the “sweet science”? GTFOH.

Rip but Corrales was nothing like Benavidez Corrales had no chin phiscially weak and was not durable. Davids chin is granit and Strong AF.

                  no comparison.

Also better example would be the whoopin Castillo gave Floyd in the first fight.

Plant, like the scrub he is, GASSED. before he gassed he looked like RJJ out there against a plodder

He was damaged goods after Canelo beat his head in yet David couldn't drop him one time whilst hitting him twice as much when he was completely gassed.

                    Benavidez power = overrated

                    Benavidez ability = overrated
