It is safe to say Canelo has not many elite fights left

He has 4 belts at 168 and no safe place to go. After this tune up fight against Ryder ( who is a mandatory, TBH), he is expected to face the real dogs again.

That would be Benavidez at 168, or Bivol at 175. Or maybe he even choses to risk and fight a big puncher Beterbiev?

Whatever move he makes, I can see him having 2 back to back losses in may 2024.

He could be past his prime boxers have it at different times, he became pro when he was 15 or 16, and has fought a lot of top opponents for years. I think the Sept fight will tell a lot no one giving him a chance against Bivol so if he wins will everyone give him the credit

Him being dominated by Bivol isnt what worries me. Its his performance against 40 year old GGG and now taking on a complete bum.

175 he needs to stay away from, he will have to pick and chose there. He should fight benevidez now, benavidez is more "proven" and hes wide open with no defense. Theres some risk but not the same risk as bivol or beterbiev. Mainly depends how well benavidez can take his power and if canelo has declined as much as it looks like from the GGG fight.

He's 32. He talked about retiring by 35, which makes sense since he started early and got good fights early. He's got 3 great, legacy fights he can make if he wants to. He can make Benavidez, Bivol 2, and Beterbiev. Since he fights 2x a year, he can take those with a tune up in between over next 3 years.

We'll see what he's made of. I would be shocked if he fought 2 of those guys. He can't wait out Benavidez since David is younger and will continue to get better. He can't wait out Bivol, since they're same age and Bivol whitewashed him. He can try to take on or wait out Beterbiev a bit since he's 38, but Beterbiev is a legitimate scary fight for Canelo. Yeah, he's a bit easy to hit, but that dude can take years off Canelo's life. All 3 guys are not who Canelo typically likes fighting - they're all KO risks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Canelo never fights any of them. Maybe Munguia/Charlo and a couple of tuneups.

It will be hard to keep these belts if he ducks Benavidez.

Naaaaaa? You think? What was your first realization? Could it be see him gassing out in so many fights lately? Getting out hustled by a much bigger man? His age? All the boxing mileage on him?

If/when he loses to Bivol again, I doubt he goes straight into a Benavidez fight. They probably find him a tune up type opponent. Berlanga maybe if he’s still undefeated.

He is 32 old with 50+ pro fights. A proven veteran. he didn`t look good fighting 40 old GGG lately.

If he faces guys I listed next, that will took years away from him. I don`t think he has many elite fights left. Which means, when he takes another loss or two and loses his cash cow status, he could retire. He won`t fight on undercards as some fringe guy.

He’ll vacate I think. Like he did after he beat Khan and Golovkin was mandatory.
