Pac vs Cotto will be a very physical fight in which even in victory, the winner will be busted up. Neither will be available for another fight until next June/July at the earliest, meaning Floyd would have to wait 9-10 months for a fight with them. I don't see that happening, especially since Floyd has just came off a long layoff and has a lot of buzz going right now. Expect Floyd vs Shane to happen Feb 2010.

Good point but the date June/July is a bit exaggerrated. I'd say May at the latest. Mayweather fighting Mosley on January 30th.

        Here are the scenarios

Cotto wins....For sure he won't fight Floyd until at least June.

        1. He wanted to take a break, but being that Manny is a huge payday, he had little to no rest before hopping right back into training (shortly after the Clottey fight).

        2. He always fight in June due to the Puerto Rican parade and celebration.

Pac wins...He also won't fight until summer 10 at the earliest. A win over Cotto will propel him to even higher superstar status. I see him taking time off to heal and also time to soak up the glory of his accomplishment (making history with belts in different weight classes)

9-10 months is a huge gap especially considering the marquez fight was a sparring session for Floyd. Fighting Shane in February would give Floyd 4 months to prepare and if he wins 4-5 for a Cotto/Pac showdown.

if cotto wins..cotto wont fight until June.

          1. He always fights around June due to puerto rican pride (his fanbase) being real high around that time

          2. He really was fustrated he didn't get time to spend with his family. He couldn't turn down the payday so he made the sacrifice. Just judging by his tone in the interviews after taking the pac fight...I know for sure he will take time off if he wins.

Regardless who wins the fight will happen when floyd wants. If he tells mosley he wants to fight in feb do you think mosley will turn down a at least 7million pay day? Same thing with cotto if he wins floyd may ask for a march fight. Cotto fighing in june will not be happpening because first off floyd won't fight him in anywhere but vegas not in the garden. Cotto normally fights at MSG in june because of the heavy puerto rican population but when he faces the top guys in the sport he has no choice but to fight in vegas [margarito, pac, floyd]. And if pac wins they will fight feb cuz that will be his final fight a 15million payday and retire to concentrate on elections

i think its pointless in making hypothetical situations, what if cotto vs pac is not a competitve fight? imo cotto will blow pac out of the water after a slow start.

imo the fights that need to be made are mayweather vs pacman at 144 and cotto vs SSM II

Mayweather vs. Mosley needs to happen. I'd rather see that fight than any other right now.

Before Floyd said any of that (what haters and that link fail to mention) was that Haymon and Elerbe Handle the business side for him and he will sit down and talk with his team about what's next. He then went on to say that they tried to make the fight but both times it fell through. He also only said "he wish Shane the best" because he was trying to clean up the fiasco that happened that night. He appoloagized several time to Max, Lederman, Steward and others for his behavior and that Mosley like was part of his appology for his behavior. Again that line is being taken way outta context.
