Comments Thread For: Benavidez: People Telling Me Not To Be Emotional About Plant Fight Haven't Laced Up Gloves

No matter what Anthony Dirrell did or said before they entered the ring, Caleb Plant contends that he never took their fight personally. The former IBF super middleweight champion, who viciously knocked out Dirrell five months ago, has taken the same

One thing David has lacked is motivation, and this fight obviously has him motivated. Which means he’s probably trained harder than he’s ever trained, and probably hasn’t done a bump of blow all camp. So I expect the fire he has burning to whoop Plant is going to be a positive and not somehow a negative where he’s gonna fight like a moron and just walk forward. Dude has a hell of a jab and he’s long. As long as he works off the jab and works the jab off lots of feints I don’t see him having a problem finding Plant.

For sure man.. people approach fights differently and anger effects fighters in more than one way. I believe Benavidez' words.

Guys who were raised as second or third kids are usually tough mentally.. they grew up getting beat up and punked by the oldest sibling so they had to work extra harder and go that extra mile for everything.

      Benavidez is a fkin animal...

Emotions can definitely play a part in training and achieving a boxer's best physical shape, and as long as he/she doesn't let it take over the mental part of the fight, then by all means, use it. The emotions can pour out after his hand is raised, and to hell with what anyone thinks about his choice of words.

Hmmm, shouldn't need the emotional Teat to motivate you. Says you have mental weakness. Also says your worried. Benny hasnt met a true boxer. Hes being manuvered much like Tank, Zurdo and the Charla’s.
Wish more boxers took the Teo, Garcia, Shakur route.

Funny thing is that the emotion was the reason Tyson thinks he won't lose. Strong emotion as powerful motivation. As long as it doesn't make him sloppy and careless, who cares? I want to see how he fights against good competition like Plant, with the style that's gotten him this far, and see what kind of skillset he brings when he steps it up.
