Caleb Plant training for David Benavidez

I don’t know…his punches don’t look that crisp to me. Anybody else getting that same vibe?

It looks like they're working on him sitting down in his punches.

Yeah, trying to get him to throw some hard shots.

Nothing slows more a pressure fighter than hard counters they don't see and a good jab.

Looks like he was focusing on punch placement. Smart tactic considering Benavidez style. Plant will have to place his punches properly to keep Benavidez at bay. Body work will be key

I don't think the routine they did was meant to impress. They're working on some things, and Breadman seems to be one of those guys that treats pad work more like a real fight rather than a display for his fighter.

Many pad guys will tell you exactly what to throw, will give you ample time to hit the pads and will even slap your fists a bit with the pads to get a better pop out of your punches. Bread doesn't seem to be doing any of that. The communication is minimal, his pads don't stay in the same place for long (there's a tighter window to land your punches) and he doesn't help the fighter with the pads, he just leaves them in place for the most part.

I actually think Plant's handspeed looks even better right now, and I think I can tell what the game plan will be. I just wonder if Bread will have Plant try to back up Benavidez later in the fight.

Spot on, breadman said as much in an interview recently. He also mentioned that for this fight he's getting caleb to sit on his shots more but without planting his feet. So it's not loading up sort of power but sharp shocking power to put off advances from benavidez.

I actually think Caleb can stop David. I think David has over trained for this fight and is tight at 168 this fight will make him move up. He'll be a step behind plant on the night just a half second too slow.
