  • Comments Thread For: Eddie Hearn: AJ Felt Usyk Rematch Was A Disaster; I Thought He Performed Very Well

Anthony Joshua has harshly assessed his performance against Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch. Too harshly, if you ask Eddie Hearn, the former IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion's career-long promoter. Hearn sensed Joshua was in position to beat Usyk through nine rounds of their second bout, before Usyk's strong showing in the championship rounds earned the undefeated Ukrainian southpaw a split-decision victory over the British superstar August 20 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The only disaster was when AJ picked up a microphone post fight.

At-least Joshua has fought Usyk twice back to back.

Performance wise? It was by no means a disaster.

Joshua was not knocked out or beaten up 'And Joshua was competitive'.

Skill for skill on pure boxing ability 'Joshua vs Usyk II was one of Joshua's best performances'.

Of course sport, and boxing is a game were your aim is to win.

But if you was to value the actual performances of a fighter, and just view the sport purely from that perspective.

As a boxer Joshua has to see the positives from his performances against Usyk.

There are more positives he can take from fighting Usyk twice back to back, going 24 rounds and pushing Usyk 'Than beating up fighters like Whyte & Franklin'.

Anthony Joshua tested himself vs the most accomplished active fighter in the sport 'And Joshua was relevant in the fight'.

Out of the two fighters in the rematch 'Joshua improved his effort the most' If the third fight was made, it is highly likely this trajectory will continue 'Joshua will push Usyk even closer'.

And that would be enough for me to back Joshua for the win.

Usyk is a cruiserweight. Don't leave that part out.

Eddie's getting nervous his cash cow isn't selling out.
Usyk won the first fight most would argue 8-4, Usyk also won the 2nd fight most would argue..... 8-4.
Hearn say's Joyce's best win is over Parker, ok but take away all the shot old past it 38-41 year olds from Kanyes resume & Parker is also his biggest win, with a referee that stopped the fight every time Parker hit back. Just sayin.

I believe with the addition of Derrick James, if there were a 3rd fight, James would be able to tell Joshua what he needed to hear after that 9th round to finish his food, Usyk, off.

Instead of telling him that he's doing great after every round, there would be calls to throw certain variations of what was done in training camp and "Go get this motherfxcker outta here, NOW!!!!"

Joshua needs someone that will implore him when its time to use his natural advantages in size and strength, to let it all go with urgency. Yes, in the second fight he showed that he can box, but when its time to eat, like he did in the 9th, next round, fxck being tired or cautious, if you want to be the greatest, FINISH YOUR FOOD!!

Has the Cruiser weight limit been moved to 220 pounds? Also when is Tyson Fury going to fight Usyk?

Usyk is 220 pounds, make no doubt about it 'The man is a Heavyweight'.

He is not a Super Heavyweight, or a Heavyweight out of condition who claims to be a monster i.e Most Super Heavyweights in this era for me, are Heavyweights out of condition 'But they use the numbers on the scales to claim that they are solid Super Heavyweights'.

This would not be accepted in any other era in boxing. Mike Tyson out of condition, his highest weight was 239 pounds vs Neilson 'Mike Tyson did not suddenly claim that he was a super Heavyweight, because by his standards he was out of condition'.

But if that was Mike Tyson in today's era, you would have some people claiming that he is a super Heavyweight.

Usyk is a solid 220 pounds.

Note: People may think themselves, why is he bringing up Tyson Fury. Why? Because this is what it is all about.

Hardcore Fury fans right now, are not really having a good time with this current Tyson Fury reign. I know all the games and tactics you all use.

To be a Tyson Fury hardcore fan, especially now when he is a Champion 'You have had to betray yourselves on a daily basis'. The Tyson Fury fans who have the most conscience, notice on this forum 'That they are the ones who are most reserved and polite of late' Because they know that they have betrayed themselves, by endorsing Fury's games.

So don't try and now attack the character and achievements of Usyk 'Usyk is the most accomplished active fighter in the entire sport of boxing'.

And Anthony Joshua 'Not Tyson Fury'. Joshua has fought Usyk twice, and went 24 rounds

Fury has to fight and beat Usyk to become the Undisputed Champion.

Your as delusional as the disrespectful belt chucker himself Kanye.

You say he wasn't beaten up cough=# fight1 rd 12. Ruined in the corner after an early bell saved him.

Skill for skill? In 24 rds Aj had 1 good round, the 9th in fight 2. Watch it back & you see Aj punched nothing but air & Usyk came back in the 10th & took Aj apart.

Oh your one of these nut jobs who wants him to fight Usyk eternally until he wins one via paid off judging so you can call "Kanye the best!"
