Whitaker vs McGirt I was a really close fight. It could be that close. McGirt was underrated at WW, only difference is, Pacquiao ain't anything like Whitaker and Mayweather has a better defense/ footwork then McGirt.

Where on earth are the similarities there ? McGirt was technically superior to Manny, he was not left handed, he had a good defence and counter punching was his game.

Manny is a Southpaw who's activity and footspeed are his defence, totally different fighters.

buddy wasnt the killer that PAC is....plus IIRC, in one of their fights (first one i believe) buddy hurt his arm so that fight wouldnt be a good indicator...i dont remember much from the rematch except pernell won easily

A closer parallel would be Meldrick Taylor vs Whitaker. The guy on youtube who made this comparison got it wrong. Also McGirt is more technically sound and a better conterpuncher where as Manny leads.

Yep, and realized right after that I tivo'd the fight awhile back but never watched it. I watched a few rounds before seeing the comparison that the dude on youtube (boxinginfo) was talking about.

Thought it would be easier to compare Mayweather to McGirt, Whitaker to Pacquiao because of their stance.

I am pretty sure they are comparing Mayweather to Whitaker, and Pacquiao to McGirt.

even then, it would still be a little 'off'...meldrick wasn't as defensively polished as floyd nor did JCC have the speed of PAC

im scrambling my brain right now tryin to find a similar matchup but there really havent been too many fighters like pacquiao and mayweather facing off
