Manny Pacquiao “Back In Training” – “Waiting On Hearn” For Benn Fight
      By James Slater

Manny Pacquiao WILL fight again. And not merely in an exhibition bout or bouts. Sean Gibbons has sent a tweet to Yahoo Sports, putting it out how the living legend “began to train today” and “is looking for a fight to end his retirement.” This as per Kevin Iole. And the target fight seems to be one with Conor Benn.

“Waiting on Eddie Hearn,” Gibbons tweeted. “The senator is ready to rumble.”

To which unbeaten British welterweight Benn shot right back – “The biggest fight of the year. Anytime.”

A short while back, some chatter emerged that suggested the 44 year old superstar might fight Benn in what would be a return fight for both men – with Eddie Hearn telling us all not to be surprised if the fight does happen.

Benn is of course still fighting to clear his good name, this after coming up positive for an illegal stimulant ahead of his big domestic grudge match with Chris Eubank Jr back in October. But now it seems Pac Man really is interested in fighting Benn, and later on this year.

A short while back, Sean Gibbons spoke with IFL TV on the subject:

“You know, it’s [a Benn fight for Pacquiao] been mentioned, along with Kell Brook, and a few other fighters mentioned with Manny possibly fighting in Abu Dhabi,” Gibbons said. “But again, Conor Benn has a situation he has to clear up first. In the meantime, Manny’s just staying active, staying ready. He has a lot left to give and he wants to still fight a little more, so I hope Conor Benn gets his issues cleared up. If not, Kell Brook, if not, whoever the fight fans would like to see Manny [fight]. Because people still want to see Manny Pacquiao, he’s a legend, like Mayweather, Manny, all these guys. So to answer your question, it’s all up in the air.”

Gibbons was asked the question of would it be Abu Dhabi if Pacquiao did fight again, and he said “absolutely,” that Abu Dhabi is “the only place right now that’s been discussed.” So, might we see the former eight-weight king lace ’em up once again? What’s that old adage in the sport of boxing – ‘they all come back?’ Manny has of course launched a number of comebacks before now, but Gibbons is probably right when he says people still want to see Pacquiao fight.

But against Benn? Against Brook? Both British fighters have their issues (Brook recently putting out a message on social media in which he wrote how he would get “the help I need” – this after he was videoed snorting some white powder at a party thrown at his house).

It would be interesting to know the names of the other fighters Gibbons spoke of with regards to who Pacquiao might fight next if he does return. But would a Pacquiao-Benn fight sell? You’re darn right it would, the controversial aspect alone would be enough to shift tickets.

All we can do at this point is stay tuned, and maybe answer the question: would YOU like to see Manny Pacquiao fight again?

Some thick blokes on this thread can’t understand that eggs benn is in the same boat as big baby Miller. Big baby handed in his license the same way. Benn isn’t innocent that’s why he hasn’t answered to the ukad or bbboc because those are the relevant investigations not the wbc. He’s playing up to Twitter to create confusion. The Donald ***** playbook. He claims this would all have been dismissed had this gone to a court of sports arbitration. So why didn’t he do that? I’m truly confused as to why he’d yell from Twitter that this would be dismissed in court but never went to court? He claims he’s gonna sue the bbboc? That was last week. Doesn’t take a week to file a lawsuit he told everyone allll about it what he was gonna do but didn’t do it. All smoke and mirrors for the ***** crowd

Greedy Hearn wants his investment back at any price but he should not even consider letting his fighter fight anywhere until Benn as gone before the BBBOC with his case ....it's obvious without the two ridiculous reasons stated here he hasn't got one. Benn threatening to sue the board for £3.5m is just pure ******ity and arrogance .I've never had any respect for Hearn and now unfortunately very little for Benn for who I once thought was a decent kid.
Do the decent thing Benn , try and clear your name and stop hiding behind your expensive lawyers you are only digging a bigger hole.,
Spot on thack, Hearn is a hypocrite after whst he said about Miller when he failed his testing for the Joshua fight. Hearn is bad for the sport I love and Benn is a cheat and his cowardly act by not co-operating with the BBBC just goes to show he can't prove this egg theory. If it was down to eggs I think many other fighters would be testing positive as well.

WBC gave Canelo a 6 month ban. They never even banned Benn. If he was guilty they would have banned him.

Benn has broken zero BBBoC rules and failed zero UKAD tests. He has been absolved by the WBC. He doesn't need to prove anything to the BBBoC and quite frankly their treatment of him is bizarre and without correct procedure, hence why Benn is sueing them.
The WBC runs a clean boxing program in conjuction with the voluntary anti-doping agency (VADA). VADA adminsters the testing. Benn himself hired VADA so as to adhere to the WBC's requirements. VADA found the banned substance Clomifene in Benn's samples on two separate occasions. The positive tests were months apart.

From the WBC's own clean boxing program: "Remember that doping is considered an unsportsmanlike practice since it improves performance in a dishonest way and is strictly prohibited in all sports, and is especially important in combat sports as it can cause irreversible damage that not only puts you at risk health, but can lead to the DEATH of you or your opponent. Your body is your responsibility! and that as an athlete you have the OBLIGATION to know what you ingest into your body."

The BBBoC is not an official partner of VADA and instead uses UKAD. UKAD was going to look at the VADA results and the BBBoC called Benn to a hearing last October. He didn't attend and instead relinquished his boxing licence. Benn originally claimed contamination was the only explanantion. He then claimed there was evidence that would clear his name, but he chose to send it only to the WBC and not to the BBBoC. The WBC after looking at the document concluded there was no contamination, but that he had ingested a lot of eggs which threw off the test of the professional anti-doping agency.

So where we are is: Benn has no licence to box in the UK on account of his own decision to give up his licence. It is only natural that the BBBoC cannot turn a blind eye to the failed drug tests. Benn's words say he is innocent and he can prove it. His actions appear to be of someone who cannot prove their innocence and instead wants to try and circumvent the body that is interested in holding him to account for his failed drugs test. Morally, the BBBoC's stance seems to be the correct one.

You’re such a little Matchroom cuck, it’s embarrassing man.

Is it plausible that he unknowingly ingested the substance? Yes, it’s unlikely but it is plausible, but even if he did unknowingly ingest it he’s still guilty of FAILING TWO DRUG TESTS.

Be honest, do you genuinely believe Benn is innocent? Yes or No?
