  • Comments Thread For: Mauricio Lara, Luis Nery Finish Long Nights: Weekend Afterthoughts

There will be some major events in the sport as the year progresses but the quality of the fights we're getting on the way there remains fantastic in early 2023. On paper, both big main events on Saturday looked good. Both delivered. There isn't much more we can ask for.

I'll have to rewatch the Lara stoppage but hadn't the 10-seconf "clappers" sounded for the end of the round?

Great action fights involving non-huggers or "slick", boring fighters, good. Anyway, the writer of this article and commentators, always make the mistake of not mentioning the rality of things. Sure, Wood was doing good but they donīt mention the fact that he missed weight was protected by Hearn, so he was prbably a weight class over the limit, otherwise Lara would have KOed him earlier. Nery and the Armenian delivered another war. Both fights involved Mexicans, who always welcome a war.

Only village idiots think everything other than standing there and blocking punches with their faces is boring

Yup both Lara and Nery delivered big time that's what boxing needs.

If we had more guys like that and less like those prancing twirling huggers boxing would be popular.

Im not sure what constitutes a beating today...but im not sure its Wood/Lara. Sure...Wood took a few in the second...but he was nowhere near done...and was taken out by one decent shot.
