Goodbye DAZN, from a Staunch Supporter

I've been with DAZN since they started, on annual sub. Paid $120 last year (I think). Just got an email saying it will now cost:

    1. $25/month for no contract
    2. $20/month for 12 month contract
    3. "Super Saver" of $225 per year (wow, super save a whole $15 from option #2)

Yes, it froze up a lot. Yes, they switched "good" fights to PPV model. Yes, they had a lot of bully fights and nobodies.

But they also showed fights in different countries and kept it active with fights almost weekly (unlike showtime, which isn't even monthly). Plus, I could watch fights two hours after they started and fast forward through all the boring parts, breaks between fights, and even breaks between rounds.

Maybe they don't know everything else costs me double these days. Maybe they don't realize I'm a boxing fan, and their MMA and soccer isn't worth anything to me.

I've supported them up to now, but there's no way I'm paying any of those plans. It was a great deal for $120 per year, but it's not worth $225, not to me anyway.

When I start earning double, maybe I'll reconsider.

I think that says it all. DAZN has way less content than all of those apps yet are charging 3x the price in some cases.

They failed to attract the number of subs they needed so are resorting to trying to rip off their loyal subscribers- who’ve actually supported them. It’s shameful.

Same here man smh. Been a advocate of thiers since launch. At $100/yr it was a bargain to myself, only TR provided more for less imo.....but at $225/yr and STILL having to pay ppv to watch Canelo and Joshua?!?...yea,fuch that and fuch them. If Canelo and Joshua's fights were included with that $225/yr sub I definitely would've continued my subscription but no,Canelos ass thinks he's worth $50mil/fight,fuch him and his greedy ass too lol.

Atleast here in April we can watch Joshua,Bam Rodriguez and Ortiz vs Stanionis for the $25/month so there's atleast that. Ryan vs Tank was ppv anyways...

      but yea,bye DAZN smfh.....

Before I would sub when there was a good fight on. No issue with that. But the problem is that they haven't had a lot of good fights on lately. Lots of months with very little boxing. The prices are too high now. Unfortunately for them this is self-fulfilling because more people will end up canceling.

I cancelled when they started charging PPV for their fights, they wanted monthly fee PLUS PPV for canelo fights, nope that is the whole reason I even bought DAZN was when they offered an included Canelo-GGG fight.

Cancelled DAZN and streamed it for free. *** them not bailing them out because they mismanaged investor funds and overpaid fighters.

If they never started that PPV nonsense, I would still sub because I still would watch the old fights in HD in their library but they doubled their monthly fee and then made it PPV, at that point I am only paying 20 a month for fights I already seen. *** them.

I made posts on here when DAZN was starting out about them overpaying fighters. The money they were paying Canelo and especially GGG was far too high. GGG only has big viewers when he is fighting Canelo, casuals dont even know who he is. That was during the streaming APP bubble. People said oh no its an app its different I dont know what I am talking about. I said they had to be burning through investor money, someone is funding them and losing money and they will never make enough in subs to pay GGG $100 million or whatever insane numbers they had. That contract was dumb as ***, they were paying GGG like 10-30 million a fight but had no say in who he fought so he was fighting complete bums like steve Rolls. They had to revert to paying him partially in DAZN stock shares which was a bad sign early on that they were running out of liquid cash. A lot of ******s on here were adamant they would make it all up on the back end, no boxing is still a niche sport. This was inevitable, its easy to overspend other people's money, look at the government, they spend other peoples money and are now 30 trillion in the hole.

The above is what makes me disgusted with DAZN the most, they made all these bad business *** ups and expect the fans to bail them out, I didnt tell them to make these ****** contracts to pay GGG $20 million to fight steve rolls. thats on them. I wont bail them out, I will just stream for free.

How does DAZN and PBC burn through $1.7 billion dollars leaving us with a product more divided and expensive than ever before??

Between DAZN's subscription/ppv's now and PBC's increasing number of ppv's,were essentially "forced" now to pay $700-$800 a yr to watch our beloved sport, wtf?! Think it's time to join Errol Spence and just give everyone one the middle finger by getting a jailbroken Firestick.

It was obvious DAZN was ***ing up when they were overspending out the gate at the same time that HBO, with 30 years in the game were quitting boxing, a decision made because it wasnt bringing in the same money it used to.

Theres promoters and managers still doing it too. THey just paid Crawford 10 million or whatever to fight another european cabbage farmer, nobody wants to see that, they tried to make it PPV and it did what 30k buys, boxing as a sport is hemorrhaging money and its ruining the sport as well. Every time you pay crawford or GGG to fight a steve rolls it gives them less incentive to fight anyone good. Why would crawford fight spence for 20 million if he can fight two euro bums for the same? now he is going to demand 100 million to fight spence and that money doesnt exist, they cant make that much and they cant front that much up front. So the fight never happens.
