The WBA choose the French woman, not Baumgardner. Persoon was unavailable because she has a 2 fight deal with some group in Dubai so the WBA moved down their ranking.

I understood where Mayer is coming from here. I had picked her to win a fairly clear UD before the first fight, but Bamguardener's physical strength and punching power proved more of a problem for Mayer than I thought it would. Mayer was still the better boxer in there and I had her winning it, but decisions can be unpredictable expecially when the fighters have contrasting styles. Bamguardener seemed to gas against Mayer too, who has tremendous stamina. It was a fantastic fight that is for sure!

Michaela mayer is not wrong, I couldn't believe how banjacksed the Baum Gardner was. I don't know if it's diet issues today or growing up but Baum Gardner does gas very early in fights, serrano is the same, surely it can't be diet as well. Now the concensus is that mayer won the first fight but still fought poorly. She will surely make improvement for the rematch and I expect she will win that comfortably. Both Baum Gardner and serrano might want to employ a dietician going forward as that gassing out will cost them both more fights. Both serrano and Baum Gardner have both lost two fights each and can't now retire undefeated, diet is very important in boxing. Katie Taylor would never eat poorly or ignore advice on diet, that's how she in undefeated and I expect will retire undefeated.

Yeah she got the decision but boxing purists pretty much across the board said they had mayer winning by 2. Baum Gardner will have to fix this gassing out or more defeats will be coming. Katie Taylor and shields are the only two top fighters that are now unbeaten, shields can be somewhat disregarded as she fights in a rubbish division, that leaves Katie Taylor as the standout best female fighter on the planet.
