Some trainers have very powerful influencing impact on certain fighters. Some don't. Like when you ask your trainer whether you're ready for fighter A or not, for example. Mere hesitant answer would send demoralizing signals into your brain, whether you want to accept it or not. It's entirely up to you to take it seriously. Seems Shields is not the kind who would give a definitive answer whether you're ready for prime time or not. This is the dynamic I see in their relationship.
