Ireland is probably the richest country in Europe, therefore everything is expensive. I've lived in queens for 7 years and I can tell you outside of Manhattan, Dublin is more expensive.

I lived in the Bronx for eighteen years and live in Queens now. My father always used to say how expensive San Francisco was. I never knew Ireland had expensive cities. I'm floored.

Parts of leafy wealthy Dublin would be off limits for most Irish people, a one bedroom apartment to rent could be over 2 thousand euro a month to rent, but could easily be 2.500 a month to rent. A pint of lager in central Dublin could be 9 euro, rent a moderate sized room in a shared house could cost a 1 thousand euro a month to rent and you could be sharing with lots of people. Petrol, diesel and public transport fares would be one of the highest in Europe. You're not considered to have a good paying job in Dublin if you don't earn over 100 thousand euro a year. Probably not as expensive as Manhattan but more expensive than queens and the other parts of new York.
