Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Says Top 'Goal For 2023' Is To Make Golokvin vs. Munguia

Oscar De La Hoya believes there is a compelling -- and more importantly, feasible -- fight in the near offing for Jaime Munguia. The head of Golden Boy said in a recent interview that his priority this year is to make sure Mexico's Munguia is involved

It would be a fun fight while it lasts and GGG should win by TKO. I give Munguia a chance based on youth only and GGG being 173 years old but I believe that chance is minimal due to their styles and levels

i think it will be a 50/50 fight and very entertaining one at that
but saying its an even fight just shows how much ggg has slipped because at hes best this fight would not even be competitive

It would be a fun fight and Munguua would finally be in against a dangerous opponent.

Mungia would overwhelm this version of GGG.. he would not let GGG off the hook as Canelo did.. would be much more aggressive

So many people are dissecting this potential fight. Why? Munguia should continue fighting Uber drivers and construction workers. Why should he get a huge name like GGG who has clearly fallen to Father Time?
Almost a decade of being the “hottest” prospect. Nope. Keep fighting bums

Ggg and Chato are cake walks at this point. Mungia has been preserving himself to win on attrition Hulk Smash style.

He’s a champ with a lot of defenses and he stretched the guy that put big charlo on injured reserve for 2 years in one round, lol. Charlo is done

“It’s a little difficult to make fights with him (Munguia) for some reason because all the fighters that he can fight are with PBC,” De La Hoya said of Munguia.

Andrade & GGG were both MatchRoom, and fought on DAZN! Janibek Alimkhanuly is on ESPN! Currently Michael Zerafa is WBA #1, and Esquiva Falcao is IBF #1. Neither of them are with PBC!

Goal for 2023? Bro, that should be your goal to get done by the end of the day. We as boxing fans would like the announcement before Valentine's Day! But we also know better.
