  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Raises Doubts That Taylor-Serrano Rematch Will Take Place at Dublin's Croke Park, Citing Costs

According to Taylor's promoter, Eddie Hearn, the apparently prohibitive "operational costs" to stage an event at Dublin's legendary Croke Park may mean the coveted rematch between Taylor, the undisputed lightweight champion, and Amanda Serrano, the multi-division champion, may have to take place elsewhere.

He could've won a least 3 purse bids for Babič's fights with money his paying to that overpaid biatch Serrano.

If not Croke Park, why not Aviva Stadium then?
it’s not quite 80,000 at Croke Park (which they’d sell out in a heartbeat), but still 50,000 which would be huge!

Wherever it happens in Ireland, Serrano better knock Taylor out or she's going to get robbed.

If Eddie thought they could fill croke park he wouldn't be worried about the costs. The fact is no one cares about women's boxing. They had to comp half the tickets last time and MSG only holds 20,000

Serrano was so close to doing just (knocking Taylor Out) that the first time they fought, that she almost punched herself out, in her exuberance to do so.
That said she still outpointed Taylor anyway, it might be true that short of a knockout the judge's might not score her the winner, even after she's earned it.
Let's hope that's not the case, and that the judge's will score it for the fighter who's earned the decision (short of a knockout), next time.
The first fight was a war, and every time these two meet, you can pretty much bet your bottom dollar, it'll be another war whether it be for a rematch, or the trilogy.
I have to say it, that they are both champion's for their fighting spirit, and for the professionalism in, and out of the ring.

I agree, I would hope the judges would be fair, but they weren't the last fight, and this time it would be in Ireland. So, I don't have a lot of confidence in that, but I do believe Serrano would finish her food this time to avoid the same result.

Alot of the usual bull****ters on this thread, the problem with croke park is not matchroom or costs too hold the event. Nor is it ticket sales, Katie Taylor will sell out croke park in 24 hours. That's a certainty. The big problem is the sporting organization that own croke park don't really want the fight. It's just not their thing. The fight will more likely be moved to the Aviva stadium which is 4 miles away from croke park, it seats 50 thousand. Of course the coward serrano is not playing her part which doesn't help. Unrealistic money demands from serrano could scupper this fight. It's a 70/30 split all day long in favour of Katie as she is the unbeaten superstar of female boxing. Katie Taylor might just say goodbye to the coward serrano as she can easily offer the fight to Cameron or Mayer. Serrano is on a serious slide anyway and only wants the fight for the payday so it's another win for Katie Taylor regardless. The coward serrano might want to stay in her lane, get realistic about money. She's not even beat Cruz yet. Start showing some respect Amanda, if it wasn't for Katie you'd be still living on food stamps.

Why wouldn't croke Park people want it ? Surely it would make a packet for the stadium also ? Curious.
