exactly, archaic paradigms, you took the words right outta my mouth......

Most people know fighters have to earn the right to fight at the top and i know what you mean about the business side of boxing being more important than it used to be. Mayweather is one of the top boxers, but he's full of **** because he dosnt risk anything, he wants to fight big money earners, instead of the best fighters. Pacquiao isnt fightin Cotto for money, its for legacy, they said themselves that if the title wasnt on the line then they didnt want the fight, its for the 7th title in the 7th division, thats all that matters. Dont get me wrong, the purse split still has to be right, the conditions have to be right for both fighters, but do you think Manny would give a flying f**k if the PPV sales bombed but he came away with the title? you bet your ass he wouldn't.

Mayweather knows he now has to start to take more risks and take on some big fighters to match Pacquiao. If anything, Floyd fans should be thanking Pacquiao for forcing him to finally take on bigger fights to prove himself, thats why he's back right? but we'll have to wait and see how much he wants it.

At the end of the day, if you're trying to say that fans are more satisfied after paying for a Floyd Mayweather fight than they are a Manny Pacquiao fight, then we are living in two different worlds, you and I.

Sure, more people bought the PPV's. I won't argue that, the proof is in the pudding.
What a level headed, and thoughtful post. Jeebus, I forgot I was in NSB for a moment.....

Great news for the sport. Hope HBO will use it to create more great fights.

This is another reason the Pac vs May fight won't happen. May will use this in negotiations and Arum will cry and snot all over videos about it.

What's your point? That Americans love their own? That Pacquiao is not American?

When Calzaghe who is not American fought here, his PPV numbers are dismal. But Pacquiao even though he came from a small country, still pulled in good numbers.

Mayweather needs to fight Cotto next. Oops, I mean "the winner of Cotto-Pac". And then , if he wins that bout, he needs to fight the winner of Shane- Berto.

That is the Spring 2010 and fall 2010 schedule.

No debates. He's had his tune-up. Put in work now.

When floyd mayweather was about skill and nothing else, about 5 people, literally about 5 or 6 people on this board posted about him on my join date. everyone knew he was good, but nobody cared, he was american, he was black, he had no real market niche to fill, thus he was always on the backburner at top rank behind morales, de la hoya and everyone else.

I think what we should take from this is (unless pac-cotto does a number like 1.2-1.5 mil) that mayweather deserves a majority of the purse for a fight with pac or cotto, especially with cotto, and if the fight doesn't happen because pac or cotto's teams demand the lion's share or even 50-50 than they need to be held accountable the same way floyd is. but that's just me what do you think?
