Israel Vazquez is back!! GBP and Espinoza Promotions

Well, yesterday was the press conference for Israel Vazquez return! I was excited to see Israel get back into things and I'm also excited because I will be doing my FIRST promotion (Espinoza promotions) with GBP. Together we are promoting Vazquez return on October 10th! It's been a fun experience!

Here are some photos of the press conference.

    This was the speech...

First off, I would like to thank Golden Boy Promotions, Sycuan, all the sponsors involved and everyone behind the scenes for making this show possible.

Well…..what can I say, the wait is over. Israel Vazquez is back. On March 1st of 2008 Israel Vazquez left the boxing world wanting more. He fought one of the best fights that I have personally been involved in. And proved to be the better man in the best trilogy that boxing has ever seen.

Unfortunately since then Vazquez suffered a detach retina that has kept him off for over a year and a half….. It’s been a journey. It hasn’t been easy. But Vazquez is back. Healthy, rejuventated and ready to take on all comers

On October 10th Vazquez faces Angel Priolo and will officially make his debut in the featherweight division. Vazquez understands there are many questions that need to be answered. We hear them.…..How much does Vazquez have left in the tank? Will he be rusty? Can he start where he left off? Can he be successful in the feathwerweight division? And whom is on that list of fighters that Vazquez wants to fight?

Well… on October 10th Vazquez will begin to start answering all those questions. And he will answer those questions the best way that he knows how. And that is with his fists.

But let me say this…. Do not underestimate Vazquez in his return. Not many people thought he could be a world champion. Not many people thought he could come off the canvas to beat Jhonny Gonzalez. Not many people thought he could come back to beat Rafael Marquez in their trilogy. And some people thought he could not come back to defeat an almost career ending injury.

But he found a way to do it. And I’m confident in Israel will once again prove to the boxing world …. to "never underestimate the heart of a champion."

So please come out and show your support on October 10th. Thank you!

              Cong**** on the first promotion!

I hope the layoff and injury don't affect Izzy too much, his trilogy with Rafa was probably the greatest trilogy that I've ever seen personally.

Glad to hear he's back, definitely one of boxing's best and most exciting!

thanks guys. Vazquez is excited to get in the ring. We are expecting Vazquez to be a little rusty, due to the lay off. But overall we feel he will look good. The long rest was good for his body.

Vazquez is the man. I hope he finds some success in his comeback.
I am a little worried about the lay off, the injury, and frankly the mileage on him. It would be awesome to see him win another world title.
