There are still 2 more PPV events for the UFC in 2009, with the UFC's own version of a cash cow in Brock Lesnar set to fight in December.
By the way, in 2009 the UFC has already broken their own record for PPV buys in a year.Comment

The reality is UFC's overall PPV numbers is good.
As someone has pointed out in this thread, big names pulls in big buys.
Comparing Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao PPV numbers to Felix Trinidad vs. Roy Jones Jr. PPV numbers is unfair.
It's just so happens that the latest UFC's fighter name is not big enough.Comment

Yeah, the one huge advantage that having all of the fighters under one roof is that they can make just about any fight happen whenever they please.
With all of the sanctioning bodies and different promotional companies in boxing, some of the fights that the fans would be willing to pay for don't always happen.Comment

That's one thing the UFC is good for, you'll ALWAYS see the top guys fight the top guys back to back. GSP since winning the WW belt fought about every top dude in the division from Matt Hughes to Thiago Alves (who was looked at as a big threat to GSP being younger and stronger). With Boxing, promoters get in the way of a lot of fights being made because of how the purse is being split and so forth, but obviously Boxing nuts won't comment on that ever.
I like both truthfully man, they provide a different form of entertainment for me.Comment

Yeah but I often wonder how long that will last for. I mean you already starting to see some of the problems that boxing has - too many PPV's, the best not always fighting the best (Fedor for example being w/different promotional company/etc.), fighters feeling their getting ripped off by their promoters, etc etc etc.Yeah, the one huge advantage that having all of the fighters under one roof is that they can make just about any fight happen whenever they please.

While UFC is dominate now, who's to say there wont be other big rival companies in the years to come. they will all compete and all have their own champs never or rarely fighting eachother (wait that already happens). Eventually, years and years down the road, it could end up being just like boxing!Last edited by ИATAS; 09-25-2009, 02:49 PM.Comment

The UFC is a privately owned company and does not have to release its pay-per-view sales, which it chooses not to do.

This is so true. With all these guys starting to make more, alot of them are getting spoiled (or will be). I read earlier that Randy Couture is fighting Brandon Vera because "former" UFC champion Rashad Evans refused to fight him because "he had nothing to gain". If that doesn't sound like boxing politics idk what does. I'm sure Couture and Evans would have been a bigger draw than Couture v Vera but instead UFC is forced to put on another ****ty card. Money corrupts everything!Yeah but I often wonder how long that will last for.
