The first big result of 2023 is in. On Friday, Jessica Nery Plata defeated Kim Clavel in a Jr. flyweight unification. GivenYokasta Valle's decision to remain unified at strawweight instead of 108 pounds, it left Plata as the lone major titlist at Jr. flyweight. A case can be made for Plata as the new lineal queen of her class.

I'm surprised that Natasha Jonas is ranked so high.

The rise of women's boxing is just mind blowing, and for me is already more action packed and exciting than the men's. My favourite fighters to watch are Delfine Persoon and Terri Harper, with Natasha Jones, Ebanie Bridges, Savannah Marshall and Chantelle Cameron not being far behind. Michaela Mayer, Raven Chapman, Erin Canderoos, Christina Linardatu, Clarissa Shields and too many other lady boxers being super talented and interesting to watch.

        You said it, sister.

In just a few years, a lot of my favorite fighters are women, now.

I was more geekd for Shields/Marshall & Taylor/Serrano than I've been for any fights the past few years.

Good on the ladies, but also shame on the men for not living up to the standard of the women at this point.
