It doesn't add up because YDKSAB. You simply have no clue how the inside works. Haven't you heard Hearn, Oscar, Bob, or any fighter thoughout modern history talk about how contracts get signed? Sometimes they never get signed, or get signed a week before, even after the fight. There are a lot of moving parts, promotions, venues, technical jargon, etc. Like Haney vs Lomo, no contract is signed yet because they have a date but no venue, feel me?

If they say no tune-up, then no tune-up. Look at the context, the tune-up was set for October when they were to fight in December so they didn't want him to risk getting hurt. Completely adds up.

This branding of fights being tune ups, is a modern boxing trend. And I think it started with Tyson Fury.

Fighters tune up inside the gym, then they have fights. If a fighter is having a tune up? Then are their opponents not there to win?

What makes a fight a tune up? Is there a difference between a tune up fight and a actual boxing fight?

Tyson Fury apparently has just had a tune up fight vs Derek Chisora, which has completely zero carry over stylistically for the Usyk fight.

If Fury would not of had that tune up fight, the Usyk fight most likely would of already been agreed.
