Comments Thread For: Prograis Eyeing Unification at 140 Next, Puello, IBF Winner

Regis Prograis figures he may as well try to unify his division if none of his mandatories are willing to step up to the plate. The newly crowned WBC 140-pound champion from New Orleans recently became the focus of business politics, when a proposed fight with former champion Jose Ramirez fell through after Ramirez balked at the terms of the purse split,

Too bad that he wants the names but they don't want him. Hopefully he is a big enough pay day for the lesser known champs to pursue.

If Prograis can unify with one of the other guys with belts, the pressure on all the other guys he's mentioned to fight him will be really high. So far even with a belt, none of these guys talking about him seem like they really wanna fight him or Taylor(who's still considered the top guy at 140). They know what they see and the risk is too great.

No one cares about those vacant trinkets..

real champ @ 140 is Josh Taylor, he never lost any straps in the ring..

Regis should destroy Puello and collect his strap, then put the pressure on the winner of Taylor-Catterall for his next fight. If he wins 3 belts, watch them all line up fot the payday. He could even fight whoever wins the vacant IBF before Taylor or Catterall, just to add more pressure for undisputed.

Don't recall him ever holding 2 titles, but he was high-risk low-reward then and at the time he was stuck in the WBSS. Now he's just a high-risk low-reward for the others even with the belt now. Aside from Puello being the weak link of the titleholders and assuming Matias grabs the IBF belt next month, all these young dudes at 140 doing all that talking are going to hafta go thru hell one way or another to be a champion.
