Because it's not the rematch the sport needs to settle things between the two boxers.

Bivol took Canelo's titles at 175. Canelo should go get them back. That only happens at 175.

Canelo should be chasing Bivol, not the other way around.

This is fair. Bivol will probably lose this one, and that will end all of who is better pound for pound nonsense. However, their are no weight classes in the wild.

It exactly is what the sport needs. This will prove who is better pound for pound since you dummies think it's a real thing. This is the only way to prove it.
The trilogoy fight will be amazing with all the titles on the line at a new catchweight. It's history Making!

I 10000% agree with you, and I think Canelo does as well, but Bivol has stated the legacy is more important than $$ and would only consider the rematch if it allows him the chance at becoming 2 div champ. Just to be clear, this is not something Canelo, Hearn or anyone else is forcing this on Bivol, this is Bivol logic and decision 100%. All I’m saying is I have no issues with the rematch taking place at 168 if that’s what Bivol wants.

That said, per Bivol, he can make weight so being a two-weight champ just adds to his legacy
So Canelo has fought at light HW and considered fighting at cruiserweight because he can’t make 168 anymore?? Lol. His sole purpose is/was chasing greatness, not weight issues.

And heavyweight if he would have gotten past Bivol. The guys that write these comments are DAF.

If that's what Bivol wants, it's still silly but I have to shut my trap about it.

Fighting below your weight is miles more difficult than fighting over your best weight class.

Alvarez at 175 pounds, is not weight draining himself as much as he does at 168 pounds. Within himself, he is most likely a stronger fighter at 175 pounds.

But the issue he has? Is that at 175 pounds he is facing fighters he no longer is stronger than.

Alvarez most of his career, has played the big man on fight night. I don't think he has constantly fought outside his best weight class to chase greatness.

Alvarez's fight vs Bivol was the first time he has fought, a optimally prepared 175 pound fighter.

Kovalev was not given enough time to prepare for Alvarez. Only approximately 6 weeks preparation, the turnaround was too quick after a 11 round competitive fight vs Yarde etc.

No no no the trilogy should be at 160! That's what's REALLY going to show us who's the best p4p right????

What a loser argument. I don't care about p4p. Bivol beat up on Canelo and took his belts. Not an "opinion based p4p" belt. Actual belts that Canelo wore before the fight. That's what needs to be settled.

Appearances can be deceiving but Bivol doesn't look so big to me. My guess is he could make 168 safely with a nutritionist. Bivol has already beaten Canelo at 175. I can see why he would want the opportunity to become a two division champion.
