When you say top 10 best fighters of the 80s, I assume you mean heavyweights. 1. Larry Holmes 2. Mike Tyson 3. Michael Spinks 4. Evander Holyfield 5. Tim Witherspoon 6. Evander Holyfield 7.Tony Tucker 8. Gerry Cooney. 9. Rid**** Bowe. 10. Lennox Lewis.

Damn Holyfield must of been really special to list him TWICE!!!

Good read as always. Especially loved the questions about trainers getting paid.

I’m glad the 80s HW convo came up. To say Mike Tyson didn’t beat top guys is ridiculous. Spinks was 31-0 & beat Holmes (48-0), Tony Tucker (34-0 in unification), Tyrell Biggs (undefeated Olympian), Razor Ruddock x2, Frank Bruno x2, only man to KO Larry Holmes (who by the way won 8 fights after Tyson including Ray Mercer 18-0) ..

Witherspoon and Tucker had talent, but both were lazy and lacked the mentality of champions.

Tyson beat 8 of the 10 HWs from the year he became champ 1986.

To say he wasn't the man, is just revisionist nonsense.

Also, Holmes lost to Carl Williams in 1983, I don't care what anybody says. His reign should've been a lot shorter.

            My '80s Top 10

            1. Tyson
            2. Holmes
            3. Spinks
            4. Holyfield
            5. Witherspoon
            6. Thomas
            7. Tucker
            8. Cooney
            9. Page
            10. Weaver
