I never said anything about him ducking Porter, but I applaud him for taking a tough fight, even though Shawn already had one foot in retirement as he stated immediately after the fight. Also, in my opinion, Bud was losing that fight, taking the more clean shots and leaving himself open far too often until he caught an overconfident Shawn in the late rounds with a shot he should have seen coming.

Until that fight, Crawford had been sitting on his one belt fighting mid-tier opponents, and fighters looking for a retirement check. Meanwhile, Spence was fighting for straps against each opponent, and tried to fight Bud for his. But, that's just not the type of work Bud and Broner are looking for these days unless it comes with a retirement plan and a yacht, especially when he can fight someone like Avanesyen for millions.

Bud had actually pulled ahead of Porter at the time of the stoppage. He stopped a guy Earl went life-and-death with. Porter was never overconfident. Crawford simply caught him with perfect counters after softening him up to the body earlier.

You say Earl was always fighting for straps, but that's clearly a bold lie. Did Mikey have a strap? Did Danny? Did Manny? Like I said, you Spence man fans twist the truth and move the goalposts to support your altered version of reality.

Mikey, Danny, and Manny will all go down as the top competition that Bud NEVER faced when he clearly had the chance to at 140 and 147. Facing those fighters were a no-brainer for Errol if he wanted to put himself in position to be called the best and gain ranking to fight for other straps. Your continued excuses for Crawford not fighting the top fighters hold little to no weight. He had numerous chances at different weights to fight them all and still fought none.

Also, Spence fought Porter well before Crawford, when Shawn was still totally invested, a champion, and in peak form. Errol chose to fight him in that manner because both of them claimed to have more dog than the other before the fight. Spence was just trying to prove that point that he could beat Porter even if he fought the style that Shawn fights , and he did. It wasn't the smartest thing to do, as he could have easily outboxed him, but he proved his point and took his strap.

            And Butaev. is no gimmee!

A little off topic, but id like to see Jalolev fight anybody of note. Why is he mia? He already had pro fights before taking gold, and he's huge. Last fight was a joke.

Stanionis is from Lithuania, he's not a "Nordic."

Let's not act is if Ortiz is fighting anyone on a high level either.
At least compared to Stanionis he actually knocked out those mid-tier fighters compared to:

-Going the distance against an over the hill Dulorme (25-4-1) via UD who never won against anyone of note.
-Headbutting Grandpa Collazo (39-8-1) onto a NC who was 41 years old and was coming off from a loss to Abdukakhorov.
-Barely scrapping a split decision win against Butaev (14-0) whose biggest achievement is beating a pillow fisted Jamal James and lost to Bes*****.

As for the matchup itself both fighters have a similar skillset, however Ortiz beats him in most departments. He has more fights under his belt, is technically more developed having faced better opposition and demonstrated being physically better.

Plus considering both fighters are stylistically similar, size advantage becomes an important factor in the fight.
