Roach: Manny can fight on Saturday
MANILA – Three-time Trainer of the Year recipient Freddie Roach is impressed by Manny Pacquiao’s speed and power, even if the pound-for-pound king just began training last Monday in Baguio City.
“He showed me his speed, his footwork. As if he has been training for a month,” Roach said in an article on The Philippine Star.
“I’ve never seen a fighter this fast,” he added. Roach arrived in Baguio with strength trainer Alex Ariza on Tuesday while Pacquiao has been in the “City of Pines” since Sunday.
The American trainer even remarked that his ward “can fight on Saturday.”
Pacquiao, the IBO/Ring Magazine junior welterweight champion, will face WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico on Nov. 14.
The Pacquiao-Cotto “Firepower” clash will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
