Loved Maravilla but Golovkin was always wrong for him. 10 years ago I still would have loved to see it. Now? Be like watching an old and beloved canine companion get run over by a car.

My first post on Boxingscene was asking about Martinez way back around the Cintron fight. I am the OG Martinez stan on this site.

Let's do it.

Sergio was a wounded soldier when GGG was calling.
He was still a wounded soldier when he fought Cotto.
Fighting Cotto instead of GGG was a business decision.

At no point in Sergio's career, or fighting style, did he come off as a coward.
I am almost certain an injured Sergio would have fought GGG had Cotto not been an option.
Are we to say fighting Williams 2x was more of a threat than fighting GGG once ?
A healthy Sergio might not have been approached.

Judging by GGG's own career choices, he was not in a rush to seek BIGGER challenges.
If a notable guy ($$$$$) in his own div was unavailable, he went to the worst possible alternative.
He could have moved up and fought a C level guy, but nooooooooooooooooooooooooo................
