Not nearly enough but Floyd chose to change his name from Pretty Boy to TBE remember. That was his decision so he will be held to those standards.

Beside the quote above ("we not fighting to prove to the boxing fans who the best is") he also told Brian Kenny he was back to "steal some more money" and "I already proved myself". The last quote goes some way to explaining why Mayweather always seemed so resentful. There is never an absolute moment in boxing when you can say you've proved yourself, when you're a champion people will always demand you face the best contenders.

Floyd was suffering cognitive dissonance, claiming he only cared about money whilst clearly also craving public affection. Some people were okay with this (there are plenty on this forum) but I wasn't. I am not suggesting he was alone in this - far from it. But he had the loudest voice so he painted a target on himself.

I remain largely nonplussed by his career post 135 and I don't miss him.

You’d have to be a deluded moron to think Margarito or Williams would have been a problem for Floyd. It’s simply just wishful thinking for most of you haters. I wanted Floyd to lose too but the guy deservedly retired undefeated, get over it.
      Cotto was shopworn.

Instead of fighting guys like Margarito and Williams and proving it in the ring, he rather have fanboys defend him ducking them.

People hate that Floyd has critics that can back up their criticism with facts. Get over it

Undefeated Cotto called Floyd out. I guess the phones were disconnected at that time

Mayweather fans find it very hard to accept even light criticism of him, so getting them to accept he avoided certain fighters is almost impossible. I saw a guy on here getting angry and calling people "haters" just for saying Maidana gave him a tough fight. We weren't even saying he lost!

Floyd certainly isn’t the best ever but he certainly was the best fighter of his generation. I can’t stand the guy but he’s beyond proven himself as a truly great fighter. He consistently fought top competition too, people who argue otherwise are nitpicking based on an agenda.

Shopworn? He won the lineal middleweight title 2 years later. You’re all over the place kid.

Are you also trying to insinuate I’m a Mayweather fan? I can stand Floyd, think he’s an absolute c*** but unlike you I don’t let my dislike for him cloud my judgement on his accomplishments inside the ring.

The guy deservedly retired undefeated, you never got your moment, just let the resentment go, you’ll feel better for it.

                .
He won the lineal mw title against who? Another shopwornfighter who was clearly on one leg.

Stop trying to defend Floyd fighting a shopworn Cotto when he had a legit opportunity to be the one to take the s off his chest

                  Honestly that is their problem.

Floyd cherry picking and avoiding guys in their prime isn't isolated to just a few people on a boxing site. It's a sentiment shared by the masses, including fellow past and present boxers. The main critiques stay the same.

The Brian Kenny quote was in 2009 after his "comeback". He certainly had something to prove then.

He proved himself by ducking out of the ww division for two years, then coming back to cherrypick a lightweight
