Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis: I Think Ryan Garcia Is Being Lazy Not Taking A Fight Before Our Fight

Gervonta Davis was surprised to learn last week that Ryan Garcia decided to skip what was supposed to be a tune-up fight for Davis' rival January 28.

I’m happy to see Tank fighting a talented guy BUT Garcia is far from a MEGA fight he SHOULD be having NOW. He’s 28 and at the very PEAK of his career and should be fighting Haney. He will never fight Haney.

I don’t understand this whole tune up fight thing. They should be fighting each other if they all ready agreed too.
Even though tank is expected to win why risk getting upset and ruining your big payday.

Tank and Ryan are both bigger ticket and PPV draws than Haney likely ever will be. This is their big money fight, maybe the biggest ones for either of their careers, considering all the ducking and padded resumes and mental health or legal issues. Can't really fault them for wanting to get paid. That's what being a prize fighter is about at the end of the day.

Haney is a far better complete fighter who’s dedicated to his craft. Garcia is talented, kinda like an Amir Kahn kinda guy. He has no boxing IQ.
He’s more dedicated to his website than boxing.

More dedicated to his website? He’s literally beaten a contender in Campbell, he beat a one loss fighter ranked 9th by TRBB and a champion. I’m sorry but your comment doesn’t hold water

In terms of $$$, Cryan might be the biggest fight out there for Tank and - bottom line - that's what prizefighting is about. But Haney is without a doubt the better fight in terms of achievement and legacy. All Tank gotta do is petition WBA for a consolidation title bout to be mandated.

Couldn't agree more Davis is working he'll be sharp Garcia seems to be lacking dedication. Once Tank dispatches Garcia would love to see him against Haney.

He use to fight a lot but stopped. A fighter has to keep busy. That’s my issue with him. I think he’s good but he needs to work on his stamina and ring generalship. He also needs to rely less on his power and more on various techniques. Set people up for a shot.

I agree with Davis but when you're currently collecting misdemeanors, you shouldn't worry about guy's dedication to his website
