    [FACTS] Castillo > Canelo

    FACT
A 45-4-1, 29 year-old (closer to out of prime) Castillo, with 0 amateur fights - lost by a single round (some say he won) against a prime 25 year-old Floyd Mayweather.

    FACT
A 42-0-1 23 year-old (perfectly in his prime) Canelo, with 46 amateur fights (44-2) - lost by 10 rounds (legit) against shot 37 year-old Floyd Mayweather.

Let that sink in for a minute.

If Castillo had the luxury of extraordinary fame in Mexico, paying off judges, and cherry-picking his career - maybe his career would have been different riding off into the sunset.

    Undeniable facts.

      styles make fights

Canelo tried to outbox mayweather on the outside, mayweather is faster with a longer reach. That was pretty dumb

I don't believe in styles makes fights because boxing scribe Grantland Rice came up with that saying in 1938.

There isn't a Jose Luis Castillo style or a Cleneloterol style, there are a handful of styles. Style wise, Castillo and Cleneloterol were both boxer-punchers.

If you want to talk stats, Floyd has 1.5" longer reach. That's like 0.75" per arm. Reach had nothing to do with it, skill did. Floyd walked him down.

He only won that many rounds because Floyd was one handed in the fight!

I agree his hand was hurt, but the scores were even closer in the rematch. I think hand or not, Castillo was a helluva fighter and a rite of passage for Floyd at that moment in his career. Everyone thought that was the blueprint moving forward, Floyd proved them wrong because imo he patched that hole in his game forever.
