The Cotto hype before the fight was immense. No one gave Margarito a chance, there was many predictions of a Cotto KO. The Ricans fans were already celebrating before the fight even happened. They created threads like “Cotto: I will never lose to a Mexican, “How will you celebrate the Cotto win” and so on.

They labelled Margarito as a one dimensional bum.They claim if Williams could beat Margarito. Cotto would do it easily.

HBO were on Cotto’s nuts like no tomorrow. Famous quotes like “Cotto breaks Men” “Cotto doesn’t beat you, he beats you up”. They even had the audacity to call Cotto a warrior.
This was a major fight outside MSG garden were Cotto is known to get gifts. This time it was on the wild west.

The fight was funny. Cotto came into the fight in a warrior mentality. He tried to outslug Maragrito. The consequences were brutal.

Margarito single handily send Puerto Rico in a state of mounring. He forced their beloved princess to take not one knee BUT TWO. Not only was that humiliating. Cotto willingly took those knees. In front of fellow countrymen who’s hope and lives rest on Miguel Cotto. When Cotto walked away from that ring, not only did he leave his 0 behind but his dignity and respect

The reason Margarito lost to Mosley doesn't really have anything to do with the plaster. Margarito is the kind of fighter who can really only have great success on the top level against smaller, less physically strong guys he can wear down and bully. Cotto fit the bill, even with the wide disparity in boxing skills, Margarito was able to keep coming, muscle him around, work his body, keep coming until eventually a battered Cotto couldn't take anymore and was forced into submission.

Against Mosley he's in with a guy who has fought at 154 lbs before and has incredible physical strength, as well as crushing power and good speed. He wasn't able to walk his ass down and basically brutalise him like he did vs Cotto, he just couldn't do it and paid the price.

And plus the wear and tear of being a 15 yr pro with basically no defence, and coming off a fight where he ate leather like it was going out of fashion, made it easier for Shane to stop him.

How was Cotto exposed? He was a proven elite fighter way before that loss, and he gave Margarito a tough fight, even though he got beaten up bad in the end. Plus only six months later Margarito got starched....it's not a stretch to think that the punishment Cotto gave him contributed to that loss.

Honestly I was more impressed with Cotto's skill level in his only loss to Margarito then all of his wins....no lie.
I couldnt believe how well he was moving and countering.
His loss stands but I lose no respect for him and Margarito can keep his win and all the so called glory he got from it.
But his win to Cotto and everyone else is stained "proof or not", and thanks to Mosley and his people Margarito was the one truly exposed.
Margarito, if he is lucky will only erase the doubt and cloud of his win over Cotto if Cotto blesses him with a rematch and he wins. But the tarnished career is forever.

U cant be serious with this post, first of all cotto was dominating the fight until Margarito had enough sweat on the plaster to hurt cotto. We all have to agree tht Cotto has more power then Mosley so explain to me Marg being KOD by a lesser puncher? Watch the fight again and u will see the assistant trainer ask Marg about his fists i believe in between the 3rd and forth round, if u can understand spanish he asked "como estas la pegada?" which is a slang for material on ur fist or the feeling of ur wraps, cotto has taken punchers from harder hitting opponents like when he fought Judah and took a uppercut flush on the chin. Marg is a cheater just admit it and move on!

When was it that Cotto lost momentum? wasn't it after a few uppercuts at the end of the 6th round? Anyhow, Cotto showed great skill and movement in that fight and he was beaten by a dirty, ****** cheat. Anyone that can laugh at the Cotto/Margarito fight and laugh at Cotto shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion on boxing. Cotto could have been seriously hurt and thank God the only thing hurt was his pride.

It pisses me off to think a ****** cheat derailed the man who could have been the best welterweight of our era.
