What’s funny is Mannix said on his podcast Friday that Garcia’s team was pushing for the tune up fight.

Half of what comes out of Mannix's mouth is pure ******ity and inaccuracy. I used to like the guy until everything he said for last 5 years has been totally wrong, not to mention his terrible ringside commentary.

There is a certain phenomenon in life in which the easy challenges can be the hardest. I can speak personally… I take tennis lessons from a varsity D1 player and if you saw me play him, you might think I was almost as good. I occasionally hold serve against him. But put me with an old 4.0 club player with braces on both knees, reeking of Icy Hot and I’ll be pulling a John McEnroe before you know it (“You can’t be serious!”). No pace to work with, hitting weird spin, playing strictly defense — it can be hard. Plus there’s the added mental stress when you know you’re supposed to beat someone and you’re losing.

In a sport like boxing where you don’t have to take fights, I think maybe it makes sense to avoid the easy ones, especially if you know you only perform your best against the best.
