Many "fans" here are quite ill-informed and don't actually follow the sport all too well. They keep parroting on about how Floyd either came back from retirement due to financial issues with the IRS or being flat out broke. Others harp on about that he came back when he saw the perfect chance to cherry pick more opponents, etc.
The truth is, he announced back in September of 2007 that he will be retiring for exactly 2 years. And guess what folks, today is September 2009..it's exactly 2 years to the day that he said he would come back. So the point is that he didn't on a whim come back due to money or other issues, he simply took a break from the sport to "get to know himself" as he's said in interviews for exactly the amount of time that he had initially stated.

Here's a sample article dated December 2007 where he says "I don't know, I'm not thinking of fighting anybody right now," Mayweather said. "We don't know what the future holds for Floyd Mayweather. You just never know. I'm going to spend some time with my family, and take at least 24 months off to see if I still really want to box again."
There's tons of other articles dated from 2007 that you can find yourself that quote him explicitly saying that he wants to take a break from boxing for 24 months / 2 years to "find himself" and heal his body, etc.
This is simply proof that it was all preplanned and he has returned exactly on schedule to resume his career.
