  • Comments Thread For: Zhora Hamazaryan Boxes Past Jorge Linares For Decision in Ekaterinburg

Ekaterinburg, Russia - Nearing his 38th birthday, former three-division multi-titlist Jorge Linares continued his sad road downhill with the third consecutive loss - this time to Zhora Hamazaryan (now 13-3-2, 9 KOs), a fighter he would have most surely defeated in his better days. But those days are long gone, and the present time is for the Russia-based Armenian, who earned a well-fought unanimous decision.

He should have retired after the Haney fight. Even though he lost, the image of him directing a dazed Haney back to his corner after rocking him is a good way to remember the old champ. I didn't need to see him get stopped by Abdulleav and I didn't need to hear about a loss to a 13-2-2 joureyman.

You're right, but maybe he wanted to go out with a win and took those (hopefully) last two fights

It's actually incredible this didn't happen years ago. If he had lost one more after Sergio Thompson 2012 he probably would have retired then and he would still have been remembered as a great champion
