If this was the under 147 version of Floyd, would he have fought hard for all 12 rounds...especially seeing JMM looked tired or was it something else holding him back?
At 147+ pounds, to me, Floyd has fought different. He wasn't as active inside the ring as he was below 147...except for the Mitchell fight. Now was that because of the size of his opponents (which he really hasn't fought someone "big"), his increased weight where he would have to possibly worry more about stamina issues, his hand injuries, wanting to protect his "O," maybe now taking less risks in order to preserve his body and brain for after the sport while being able to last longer in the sport which would go with only needing to release the amount of energy needed to win...or what?
I wonder if that was the 130-140 pound version of himself if he wouldn't have fought from round 1 through 12 to win and possibly take JMM out when he saw JMM not throwing as many punches and slowly declining as the fight went on. I'm not necessarily saying he could knock out JMM, nobody has...but trying to take him out by throwing more would give him the best chance. Of course the skill set of JMM is quite high and you have to fight with caution but with Floyd's skill and at a certain point in a fight...couldn't he have picked it up more?
Now it was certainly smart how he fought yesterday because he only used an amount of energy needed to win and of course he is a defensive wizard...but for excitement and what I think he could do based on the past he didn't use all his capabilities for this performance. It's like showcasing a Ferrari but only leaving it in 4th gear
Oh, and FINALLY Floyd brings back his JAB...something I've been complaining about him not doing and making it harder for himself for quite some time.
SKILLS won that fight...not size.
