Comments Thread For: Hearn Slams Arum, Top Rank: They've Had a Terrible Year; They've Got No Ambition

Eddie Hearn wasn't about to let Bob Arum have the final word. The rival promoters have been denigrating each other through the press for the last several weeks. Taking issue with some comments Arum made about him, Hearn, 43, accused the 91-year-old Arum of being senile and incoherent. Arum fired back, telling reporters that Hearn's endeavors to promote in the United States have been an abject failure and that he is not considered a serious competitor by American promoters.

Hearn just makes it so easy not to like him. He carries himself with such arrogance and bravado, but has nosy, gossiping female tendencies, as he speaks on everyone else's business so matter of factly, as if everyone is beneath him. Spoiled entitled bxtch.

Stevenson vs. Valdez was good! That was January 2022! Can't think of much else? TR is loaded with talent: Fury, Lomachenko, Stevenson, Haney, Teofimo Lopez, Navarrette, Zayas, Shu-Shu Carrington, Jared Anderson, Keyshawn Davis, Berlanga, etc., but they don't always make the best match ups!

This is coming from the guy who was forced to walk back his “Ppv is dead” comments due to failing and then never released official Ppv numbers for his may event and then released world wide numbers which included subscriptions for his sept Ppv event. Boxing as a whole is failing, Hearn and dazn included.

Emmanuel Navarrete set to take on Oscar Valdez for vacant WBO title, Feb. 3

It looks official. ESPN is reporting that a vacant WBO junior lightweight title fight between Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez has found a home, with the bout set to take place on Feb. 3 in Glendale, Arizona, airing on the ESPN network. And while Navarrete vs Valdez will serve as the main event, we’ll also be treated with a nice co-feature fight between Jose Pedraza and Arnold Barboza Jr.

The fight between Navarrete and Valdez will be contested to pick up the belt vacated by Shakur Stevenson after he failed to make the 130lb limit when he took on Robson Conceicao.

Navarrete (36-1, 30 KOs) is most recently coming off a stoppage win over Eduardo Baez this past August which continued his hot streak — despite there being some less than stellar opposition sprinkled in during that time. As of late, however, Navarrete has been taking on much better fighters and he’ll need to come in fully prepared for what surely will be a game Oscar Valdez.

Valdez (30-1, 23 KOs) is most recently coming off a lopsided decision loss to Shakur Stevenson, in a fight where he really couldn’t get much going against the taller, technically sound fighter. Valdez will be taking on another taller, longer fighter here in Navarrete, but should have more chances as Navarrete is much more unorthodox and not as technically gifted as a fighter as Stevenson. Should be a fun one.

OK Top Rank! That's more like it!

Hearn is salty because Arum scolded him with the truth. His whole “US takeover” has been a complete joke.

Hearn set himself up for failure with all the “takeover, game changed and PPV is dead talk”. Had he been more professional and realistic when he entered the US market he wouldn’t be getting so much stick. He probably would have been a lot more successful too.

Spinning out of control. Arum has competent people working for him. Eddie has an incel army who spin BS on boxing boards like this one. And has to use lame little brother nationalism to market fights - “Joshua carries the hopes and dreams of Britain on his shoulders.” Have fun in bankruptcy court, clown boy.
