A thought about moving up in weight.

I have to make this post because there is obviously a lotta dumbasses here that don't understand the nuances of boxing.

People are talking **** about JMM's performance and explaining it away by saying that Floyd was just that much better and that the size was only 4 pounds and two inches.

    Wrong.

Its not about how you move up in weight, its WHEN.

Floyd fought at the lower weights in his early 20's when his body was still growing.

JMM fought at 26' MOST OF HIS CAREER, WELL INTO HIS 30'S.

Anyone past 25 knows that at some point you reach your "man body"... JMM reached his man body at 26' pounds in terms of fighting weight.

Floyd had reached his at 150.

So realistically there was a 40 pound swing on Saturday night for JMM. Fighting 20 pounds above his natural weight and having Floyd weighing in the 55-60 range.

So for all you fools that think that JMM "ain't that good"...put that in your pipe and smoke it.

At his natural class he was unbeatable. He made it look easy to the point it was boring and he had to fight dumber to get people to watch.

Mayweather fans should know a bit about that.

Anyone who doesn't respect what JMM did on Saturday is a ***ing idiot.

Anyone who says Marquez isn't good is an idiot. He just had no business fighting at 147 against a faster younger more defensive version of himself.

You have an excellent point. I agree with you. Not to discredit Mayweather, because he's the best defensive fighter in the game, but I can't praise him for beating JMM because it was one of the worst mismatches I've ever seen. JMM is a great fighter who never stopped trying, he deserved to stay at the top 3 in the p4p ranks.

        And much much bigger.

I was watching JMM tapes of him at FW, dude was so good it was scary. Always at least 3 moves ahead of his opponents.

JMM's heart is as big as Floyd's unpaid tax

Mayweather and Marquez aren't really similar or even comparable, stylistically.

Agreed. JMM is a classical master boxer.

Floyd is a master boxer as well, but has a very unorthodox way of conducting his business in there.

Both were hard to hit counter punchers int heir primes. Mayweather is more unorthadox, athletic and better defensively.
