Yarde might give Beterbiev a bit of trouble in the beginning of the fight, but Beterbiev will lower the boom on him by mid fight.

This is a good matchup. I’m very excited about this fight. Yarde is a good-very good fighter and deserves this shot. He is top 5 or just outside light heavyweight. Strong, athletic and punches hard. With Gilberto going down, Joe Smith out of the picture along with Marcus Brown (not counting Pascal - I think he on the downside a bit), this is the best fight to make except for Callum Smith (he is rejuvenated at this weight and outgrew Super Middleweights long before he moved up.). Smith is very skilled and can crack. And of course Dmitry Bivol. Happy with this matchup.Comment

Hard to say anyone stands a chance against Beterbiev. But he is human and can be cracked. He's been dropped and hurt, but not significantly enough. I think Bivol can box with him but I'm not sure even Bivol can avoid the punishment long enough to win.
Yarde has to do a few things to have much chance. He has to Find ways to counter Beterbiev and hurt him. A great attack from the start of round 1 will be necessary just to survive some rounds (Beterbiev usually heats up by round 3). Yarde has to take some hard punching and still be able to significantly counter. He better be very accurate too.
If Yarde is able to stay competitive past round 3, he better be in the best shape of his life. I hope he is doing roadwork and chopping wood like Ali used to do. You have to be very strong in the middle rounds to have a chance with Beterbiev (unless you lower a serious boom on him early). I would plan to be in very good shape ... and toughened to be able to take some heavy blows. Yarde will probably see and feel some.
If Yarde is able to train past the fear of taking a beating, and comes prepared to drop some heavy wood ... there are ways to beat Beterbiev. He will have to be the Best Yarde he probably will ever be though.
Common sense says Beterbiev keeps his 100% KO percentage at some point in the fight.Last edited by MastaBlasta; 12-06-2022, 08:39 PM.Comment
