If Floyd would have just fought and beat the best guys in their prime, these Floyd boys wouldn't be so paranoid and emotional
Simplifying Pacquiao's cherry-picked career

OP is just a provocative edgelord. He keeps reopening this tired shouting match as a form of gaslighting because he has residual doubts about his favourite fighter's career. It's the only thing that explains his motivation for protracting something that begun in 2009 and ended in 2015.
It's impossible to resolve this and I'll use a music analogy to explain why. I like rock music and it's unfathomable to me how someone can listen to someone talking over basic percussion all the time. Equally, those into Hip Hop find electric guitars unpalatable. However, there will be the odd track each can appreciate.
If you're into Floyd's "genre" you won't like Manny's but will nonetheless like his occasional fight and vice versa.
There is a deeper discussion to be had here about entrenched tribalism, ego and the need to worship secular gods but I know people don't like it when I go so abstract so I'll leave it there.Comment

Floyd is not my all time favorite fighter and I have zero doubts about his career at all. He dominated Manny's soul 10-2 and made it look easy.
And don't be stealing my thunder either. I was the one bringing up tribal fanplay a few times recently so get your own matrerial and stop trying to catch my crumbs. And we've seen what happens when you use your own material, edging is about penis play and edgelord makes you sound gay.Comment

Lets not get carried away.
Nobody owned nobody's soul. You couldn't count 10 clean punches for Floyd. It was probably his worst outing with nothing but running and holding. The joint got stunk out as bad as he did against BaldymirComment

Humans seem to have a deeply rooted psychological need to believe in something outside of themselves. Evolutionarily speaking, believing in higher powers possibly had a survival benefit so it was selected for. Also, from an existential perspective, it provides meaning in an indifferent universe.
Notice how people become very invested in certain individuals and argue vociferously against their detractors and/or supporters of perceived rivals. I witnessed this recently on chess forums following the Carlsen-Niemann cheating scandal fall out.
Or take a public intellectual like Jordan Peterson. He has a very motivated cult following who aggressively defend his every word and action. These people are being treated as secular gods. It's fascinating to observe Tyson Fury followers "interpret" his public announcements (e.g. "he's not really retiring, just driving up his price") as if he's some kind of prophet, assumed to be speaking in metaphor.
Using this as a point of departure, it explains people's hostility towards "false prophets" (i.e. rivals) and use of the word "hater" (heretic) and "fanboy" (zealot). It's a way of fending off a challenge to one's world view in the same way the priesthood did pre-Enlightenment.
Organised religion, then, is a secondary cause. It's simply more established and has longstanding rituals and traditions built up around it. As it declines. people are simply looking for "god" elsewhere, primarily in the sports and entertainment industry.
I am not immune to this myself. I've noticed that I've become rather too attached to certain musicians over the years - most notably John Lennon. I check against it by reminding myself they are just eating, breathing, defecating flawed humans like anyone else. In Lennon's case in particular, one need only listen to his son Julian to realise he was far from a modern day saint!Comment
