    Someone explain this

The Ring has Mayweather P4P #2 and Mosley P4P #3, yet in the welterweight rankings, Mosley is #1 and Mayweather is #2.

It was suggested to me that Mosley is ahead in the welter rankings because he has the better resume at welter, but Mayweather's is better overall.

Since they both beat Oscar at 154, and Mayweather's resume at 140 is pretty substandard, are they really going back all the way to 2002 when Mayweather beat Castillo twice (since Sosa and N'dou aren't exactly guys that vault you spots in the P4P list)?

    Anyone want to weigh in?

I don't think its based on resume alone ..... other factors play a role also.

In essense: its just a way to promote upcoming match-ups. IMHO

Look at how the WBC ranked Pac-man #2 WW above every other competitor in order to sanction his upcoming fight for the Platinum Diamond belt.

Well, they definitely had Mosley jump Hopkins to try to hype an upcoming Mayweather-Mosley matchup in the future (or so Goldenboy hopes, and they own The Ring magazine).

That's my main problem with the latest p4p rankings. How can Floyd p4p be ranked above boxers who rank above him in a division where he has been for the last four years?

I asked that question to boxingscene's Cliff Rold in his p4p rankings thread but he shamelessly ducked me.

Just remember.....weight class rankings are based on resume.. P4P ranking is and always willl be an opinion.

Boxing is becoming like wrestling, full of ****,Cotto's welterweight resume is also better than floyd's,that's a fact!!As a matter of fact, floyd hasn't fought anyone on the ring's top 10,while Cotto & Clottey have!!It's just crazy how DLH used to complain about politics in boxing & this fu%king guy is worst than Don King right now!!

With all due respect, i view it differently.

I view the Weight Ranking as an accmplishment-based ranking. The P4P ranking is your opinion of skills and abilities. P4P includes how you look as you are winning.

For example, there are fighters who haven't accomplished much, but they look great. A good example is how Corrales was rated higher p4p than Mayweather when they fought. But FMJ was the one who had beaten Chicanito and had the better resume.

I remember a year or so back Rold had Lorenzo Parra in his top 5 p4p (something hilarious like #2) and had Floyd at four or five. I abused him for his terrible ratings to which he responded something the the effect of "you will see" or "just wait."
Parra was knocked out in his next fight, and then two fights later was stopped by Callerbo.
                  Sometimes you just abuse yourself.

Pac IS GOING TO FIGHT a legit welter. But that legit welter is not fighting at Welter. Pac is fighting Cotto at 145. A weakened welter.

What's a measly two pounds, you say? Two pounds mean nothing?
