Several sources said that the only money guaranteed to either fighter in this event as Mayweather Promotion as the lead promoter was Juan Manuel Marquez . JMM and Golden Boy Promotion was guaranteed 4 million dollars. 3.2 to Marquez the rest to Golden Boy for delivering Marquez. Now Mayweather as the promoter and he found out a harsh lesson here in this market place as the promoter he had to incur the cost of 24/7, the marketing, the press tour and anything associated with that event and then after that whatever profit there is including scalping tickets which Mayweather and Al Hayman do engage in they were gonna make their money there but a couple of problems there none of that existed with the secondary market with the ticket and they found out by testing the water that there wasn’t gonna be a demand for this event.

People bumped this thread when they said this fight wouldnt do well, im using the same source who stated MAYWEATHER PROMOTIONS LEAD PROMOTER OF THE BOUT AND INCURRED ALL THE COSTS. Let me ask u why the hell would mayweather pay for all the marketing costs and promotion costs of the fight if he wasn't taking home a significant percentage of the promoters cut???

Marquez has always been crap at negotiations, he fought Chris John for $25,000 in Indonesia and lost a controversial decision.

He eventually took an unfair split in the Pacquiao vs Marquez rematch (75-25 split)

Marquez got 1 million for the Pacquiao rematch, while Pacquiao got 3 million

Marquez had really low ratings/numbers in his 2 fights against Juan diaz and Joel Casamayor. It's nothing to get mad about, just FACTS that Marquez is not good at negotiating

He also had an unfair split in the Mayweather vs Marquez fight,

Marquez got 2 million, and Mayweather 10. (Greater than a 80-20 split)

i understand man but your facts are not correct. Marquez had really good ratings for the Diaz fight. virtually tied with margarito-mosley and cotto-clottey for highest ratings for the year. his fight with casamayor did 100k on independant golden boy ppv. pretty good considering that calzaghe-jones did 200k 2 months later with an hbo 24/7. the real fact is that what you stated is impossible. all fighters get a share of the ppv, period. even more so in this fight, half of the promotion was to target mexican fans.
