He won't fight Bivol next year either. He knows that Bivol is not going to bow down and let him dictate when and under what terms they will fight. Bivol has already stated as much, and said that the fight really doesn't interest him that much anymore after Canelo fought GGG instead of fighting the immediate rematch. Canelo is just putting this out there so that he can say that he tried and Bivol ducked him, meanwhile delaying the Benavidez fight even further by saying that he had to pick some fall guy at the last minute.

Personally I wish he would give up on Bivol and fight the guys at 168 but to say this is a duck is just dumb. And for the record, I don’t like canelo and think he is a drug cheat.
He's not going to fight Bivol, see above, just watch.

If Canelo fights Bivol you can't say anything bad about it. Bottom line.

Oh you bet he will for the money, but it might be someone even worse.

I wouldn't say anything bad about it because he would probably take a massive ass whooping this time around because Bivol has seen that he has nothing to be afraid of.

Bivol is on record saying he doesn’t care about that and is more about legacy. Flat out said a rematch with Canelo isn’t appealing legacy wise.

I like a fight against Buatsi to "earn" his rematch against a contender at LHW. (this is if Bivol goes for undisputed).

It checks the box for the UK fight

I guess Canelo has obligations to maintain the 168 undisputed though? Ryder is acceptable, but Buatsi at :LHW is more intriguing to me as a standalone fight.

And better prep for Bivol IMO - not a style comparison at all, but Butasi may be one of the few guys who has the quick burst in his legs that Bivol has, an attribute Canelo can struggle with. Buatsi is waay more hittable than Bivol, stiffer up top, but he's got a good jab with power, there are some attributes Buatsi has that I would like to see Canelo improve against before I get hyped on the Bivol rematch,. If he were to win that fight impressively, a rematch shouldn't be denied. . Based on Bolotniks/Butasi, I think Canelo can hurt him and get a solid win at LHW.

unfortunately, Virgil Hunter said Buatsi is not ready for that fight so idk how they square that

Lesser fighters need tuneups and long vacations. Why deny the face of boxing the same kindness? Doesn't make sense.

what a tune up fight go to do with surgery? You test your hand in sparring or on the bags not a tune up unless you have been off for ages. It will be 8 months between fights which is normal. Stop making excuses for a ducker.

If a guy has surgery he has every right to come back with an easier fight.

If he then fights Bivol then only idiot would call him a ducker or a cherrypicker.
