Altitude training. Does it REALLY HELP????

I know some boxers are big on that tuff. They say "ooo when i get back down to sea level i'll be even fitter".

DLH kept going on about that b4 his fight with pac and we all know what happened.

So does anyone know if it actually helps or just the same as training at sea level??

It's a known fact that altitude training enhances the level of red blood cells so your oxygene intake gets better. Hence it improves stamina. It can either be done naturally in altitude training or artificially with EPO, CERA and other banned substances. The banned substance known as the clear in the Balco case was EPO.

Flipping rocks over your head doesn't work either.

Altitude training increases stamina greatly!!If ur ever been anywhere up a mountain, the air gets thinner,it's harder to breath!!When u force ur body to operate in those conditions & find urself adapting, when u return to normal conditions,ur body is better conditioned!!

Altitude helps develope strain resistance to the Alveoli of the lung, and it causes expansion which, although difficult to assimilate at the altitude it is submitted to, makes a difference when the body is brought back down to it's natural atmosphere. When re-aclimated, the lungs have much more resistance to exhertion, and expand at greater rates to accomodate the oxygen intake at that level.

I would say that yes, it does do some good....but stepping in the ring with a bigger boxer, who's faster and doesn't make catch weights, never works. LOL

Not on Sept 19th. Floyd 'marquez'd' JMM on that date and had his ass running towards the hills, afterwards.

There is a lot of solid science that says it does work and helps stamina. The more questionable tactic is the pure oxygen tanks that Marquez used.

BTW Kenyan runners have incredible stamina and they lived and trained at high altitude before people saw the benefits of training at high altitude.
