Comments Thread For: Wilder's Trainer: Usyk Should Just Fight Deontay, There's No Telling What Fury Will Do

Malik Scott, the head trainer for former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, says Oleksandr Usyk - the unified champion - should face his boxer instead of waiting around for Tyson Fury, who currently holds the WBC strap.

Reasonable advice, good fight if it happens. Surely this is better than some "undisputed" mirage if it means having to waste time with underserved mandatories like Hrgovic.

Eventhough Usyk has 3 belts, he still can't sellout a family diner. Haymon isn't risking Wilder in that fight when he get him beatdown by Fury again, KO Ruiz or send him to the UK in a 50/50 fight with AJ

Deontay wants to avoid another KO loss, Usyk is the best bet

Deontay's side piece has spoken. Why fight Fury when you can fight the guy who is 0-3 vs. Fury with no belt. Forget being undisputed champ. This guy has been a total clown ever since he took a dive for Wilder. He'll do anything for his daddy.

In fairness, Usyk himself said he wanted that fight a while back

Scott's called it honestly: 'I'm selfish'. Ofc he is. Fair play for admitting it.

Because obv waiting for Wilder to finish with Ruiz, a fight that is still TBC, will only allow more mandatories to get called from other orgs. Perhaps that's the game.

Wilder defeating Usyk is very slim and it would be for less money even in a title he’d make more against Ruiz . Usyk has just been ordered to fight Hrgovic now these guys want the fight publicly , why can’t posters can’t a pattern here is beyond me they’ve did this for years with Joshua and other fighters when other fights are announced ? Lol

Usyk isn’t going to go get stripped of a belt just to fight Wilder mediocre money with pursuing a WBC belt ,losing one doesn’t help his cause . Hrgovic is a huge threat , Wilder is more winnable for him but I’d have to think he thinks he could defeat him and move on to Fury and roll the dice with that character ,it doesn’t t really matter the objective is to get the WBC belt no matter who has it . Wilders best chance for a title is defeating Ruiz first . If Fury doesn’t fight Usyk and he gets past Hrgovic and then Fury fights Wilder or Ruiz that means he’s just is running again from another fight period .

Ruiz Jr is a light puncher who was getting outworked by grandpa Ortiz

Great stylistic matchup for Wilder unlike Usyk who poses more risk, yet a much higher reward.
