Comments Thread For: Hearn Buoyed by 'Positive' Communication With Deontay Wilder Handler

Eddie Hearn says he was encouraged by recent interaction he had with the manager of Deontay Wilder. Hearn, the promoter of former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, has been publicly calling for a bout between his charge and Wilder. But communication seems to have been mainly one-sided--until, recently, that is.

Hearn is using Joshua as a smoke screen to make a fight with Whyte in the Middle East for huge money , a fight he has always wanted for his heavyweight loser , compared to a fight he has never wanted and will never make against his other one!

I’m pretty sure we’re more likely to get Wilder Ruiz next.

Can't really see this happening until 2024 at the earliest. Get the feeling that all the bigger names without belts are using the possibility of fighting each other to keep their names in the headlines rather than actually doing it or fighting one of the actual contenders. Wilder v Joshua will always be a big fight but without a belt it has far less relevance and doesn't make as much dough.

He will put in Whyte first to test the waters if he is not knocked out by Joshua for the 2nd time

Everything is in the so called “Middle East” (silly name, it’s either Asia or Africa) that he wants to propose. The fight should either be in the usa or the U.K. and if not those then somewhere like Cape Town, Pretoria, Sun City, Johannesburg, or Lagos for historical and cultural purposes as both fighters have spoken quite fondly of their African origins and desire to fight on the continent. Both men are of Nigerian extraction so this is an opportunity for Hearn to make something special

Maybe we'll see it while we're still breathing.

I guess it's a fight of who lands the big punches first. Joshua may need more than one, whilst Wilder would just need one or two big right hands to get the ko.
